  1. My problem with working any bike with body work, is the space to safely store the parts out of harms way (mostly the wife and dogs) One of the many reasons that I don't miss my Goldwing or to a lesser extent the S1000rr.
  2. Welcome to the forum Heavy, I'm sure you will find the wait for your 900GT worth it.
  3. phpaul, I don't see any XS650's in your pic's? I hope you haven't gone all modern on us🙂
  4. I had my first chance to ride the GT since Ian blew thru my town of North Port FL. It sure felt great to get out on the bike after almost 3 week's ( I had the common sense not to go out before everything was cleaned up that I could at this point, to insure domestic tranquility) and get home with out a flat tire, I have never seen so much damage in my life and people left with nothing, just breaks my heart.
  5. I think PhotoAl answered your question about your leak. You might want to see if someone makes a set in silicon, might be cheaper than buying every hose through the Yamaha.
  6. Some people think A mode can be twitchy, to me it's the only mode I ride in. You can always get the ECU re-flashed to smooth it out if needed.
  7. There was a time in my life that I got pulled over almost weekly and got off almost every time or just a warning ticket or some other kind of non points ticket. Only reason I can think of is I pulled right over and had short hair. That worked well till I went by a NY state trooper at 126mph the reading on his radar gun, the speed limit on the Taconic State parkway was 50mph. The rest is history😁
  8. Have you done the front brake light switch recall yet. I know the 19GTs had the recall and I think the 20GTs had the same recall. The bad switch kicked the cc light on my 2019 intermittently until it was replaced.
  9. I will have to say if your looking for a bike to do a lot of two up long distance riding, look for another bike. But for solo rides she's is hard to beat.
  10. Welcome back Wordie, looking forward to seeing your progress on the GT once your wife and you are feeling better.
  11. That is a great looking bike and I bet you won't have any problems with the seat pushing the family jewels into the tank.
  12. I would give Color-Rite a call, they have a very extensive selection of motorcycle touch up paints and also aerosol spray cans.
  13. It's not going to get better with time unfortunately. I would suspect the chain is the problem at least it was on 19 900GT, check for kinked links and make sure the chain is adjusted correctly.
  14. Any sign of coolant in the oil or white smoke from the exhaust? That would indicate a blown head gasket. Any bike shop should be ably to pressure test your radiator cap for you.
  15. The Shinko 705 have served me well on my KLR605 and will probably age out before I wear them out. The rear tire has a little over 5000mi on them almost all pavement unfortunately, looks like I could get 10,000mi on it easy. It's amazing how rear tires last when your bike puts out 35hp. Michelin pilot roads are my tire of choice for all my road bikes, even run them on my HD XR1200.
  16. What size is the Helmet and is it fiberglass or plastic?
  17. Sure sounds like you had a great ride. Thanks for the pic's and history lesson.
  18. I was lucky enough to get a z900rs as a loaner bike when one of me bikes was in for a recall service. I probably put close to 200mi on it and enjoyed every mile of it. If the price is right I would add one to the stable in a heart beat.
  19. Not that I'm superstitious or anything, but I think I would pick up the bike on the 14th 😉
  20. How many gallons did it take to fill-up? Down where I life in Florida I can have been only able to find 90 octane ethanol free. Which I run in my KLR 650, but I don't want to run the GT on that low of an octane.
  21. I see people doing a lot of performance builds out of the Rev-Max engine. The cylinder's bolt onto the cases, making it real easy to have some bolt on fun☺️. I was told that HD made the bottom end robust, to handle the soon to come Screaming Turkey Performance parts.
  22. I'm real happy with the bike and would buy a new one tomorrow if anything happened to her. My bike had the re-flash issues that have been talked about and one recall (passenger grab rails) with one more re-call to go (instrument display). I think one of the things that caused a lot of the problems with the roll out of the bike was the fact none of the dealership mechanics were trained at the factory on the new bike. Instead they did the training by computer, because of the Covid crap and the fact that the bike has a lot more technology than they were use to dealing with or their salesmen understand. Go get your self a test ride on one.
  23. If I remember right it's 25 feet with you and the stuff you normally carry on the bike. I do miss the electric headlight adjustment my old Goldwing had, sure made life easy.
