  1. Heated grips on all the bikes that I've owned from Ducati to BMW to Yamaha to Honda have the same issue. On the throttle side, the grip is insulated from the handlebar by the throttle tube, whereas on the clutch side, the grip is in contact with the handlebar which acts as a heat sink and sucks away the heat so the left hand always feels not as warm as the right hand. I've recently added these to my other bike, at the highest setting they become too hot to touch without wearing gloves (I was bench testing them before installation) which solves the problem of the clutch side grip. The manufacturer claims at full capacity the grips will reach a temperature of 70 C which is 158 F. Koso Apollo Heated Grips | 10% ($12.99) Off! 2. and there's no lamps to be fitted both are LED and the LED is not a replaceable bulb. The above advice is the best solution and costs nothing and is fully reversible.
  3. Yamaha owns Ohlins. Too bad they don't offer us in the US/Canada the SP version of the Tracer with full Ohlins electronic suspension. The price difference would have been equal to what you paid to get yours done and they're not adjustable on the fly as with the e-suspension. When I owned my SupeTenere, I set the suspension and never touched it again unless I was with a passenger or fully loaded for a multi day trip, nice to dial up more preload with the touch of a button. p.s. LOVE the wrap on your bike. I was actually thinking of getting it done on mine to match the wheels before I saw yours.. Now I see it looks really great!
  4. Thanks for the breakdown. I suppose it's money better spent on this than a full racing exhaust, which I've always done mostly for esthetics and aural reasons with mostly zero performance gains. Having done a full Ohlins upgrade on a previous bike, it truly transformed the ride. My Tracer currently has ZERO km's on it but the list of farkles is growing... currently in Costa Rica dodging winter and working on improving my Spanish.
  5. Looks great! Did you do the installation yourself? Could you give us a price beak down on the front end and back? thanks.
  6. You haven't felt buzzy until you've ridden the BMW S1000XR. A couple of years ago, I was ready to buy until I rode it, after a 2 hour test ride, my hands and feet were tingling for quite a while after I got off the bike. The Tracer is nothing by comparison, but each person has their own level of tolerance for vibrations.
  7. I believe the above pegs are also longer overall, hence they touch down sooner .
  8. As much as I hate sending my money to China, I purchased a rad guard my new Tracer GT from this seller: motorcycle-world on eBay Follow motorcycle-world on eBay. Buying, Selling, Collecting on... I never expected to see the goods for several weeks but much to my surprise, the goods were shipped from Mississauga, Ontario by Canada Post with tracking number. I purchased from seller below a side stand plate and fork clamps so I can adapt them to mounting my LED lightbar. Both arrived in a week to ten days max. fx-motorcycle on eBay Follow fx-motorcycle on eBay. Buying, Selling, Collecting on eBay... Has anyone else experienced this? I tend to order small things from Chinese sellers, such a blank yamaha key and by the time I see it, I've forgotten about it as it takes several weeks to months for these things to get here, but these purchases shipped from Ontario surprised me. If you are aware of any other off shore ebay sellers that ship from here, please post them here.
  9. when you stand on the pegs, does the rubber compress so the aluminum cleats dig into your soles to prevent boot slippage?
  10. When you placed your order, you were given a delivery time frame? I visit France often and would like to order a set for delivery to my French address but want to time it right.
  11. According to the Akrapovic site, the titanium headers are matched with the canister with a carbon end cap. Are you able to post a pic of your headers?
  12. Akrapovic has 2 types of headers available for the Tracer, stainless steel and titanium with a titanium can and carbon end cap. Is one type of header better than the other? I do like the look of titanium headers when they turn blue.
  13. I have a 6" (15 cm) Rigid LED lightbar which I had mounted on my former SuperTenere and will now mount it to my Tracer. Do you think the optional lighting accessory socket hidden behind the windshield can handle the load? The wiring harness for the lightbar has no relays, I had it plugged into a Fuzeblock, so it doesn't draw a lot. Anyone know what the accessory light fuse is rated at? the owner's manual says it's located next to the left side panel, but does not mention how many amps the fuse is, I have to remove the panel to see it. My lightbar is similar to this one but in black. SR-Series - SR-Series PRO | Rigid Industries The SR-Series PRO LED Light Bars provide a sleek, low profile...
  14. Oh ok, thanks for your help! I'm using the BF05 with a small tank bag similar to this one below. I'll have to order a BF23 then. Givi ST602 Sport-T Tanklock Tank Bag - 4L - FREE UK DELIVERY Givi ST602 Sport-T Tanklock Tank Bag - 4L from the UK's leading...
  15. My Givi Tanklock tankbag doesn't fit on the fuel cap Givi ring because it hits the plastic trim piece just ahead of the tank. So, I can't use it. Is there a work around?
  16. BMW opted for a dry sump design without a oil sight glass on the F900 series (R and XR). Gotta use a dipstick which isn't as quick as a sight glass, but what really puts me off is having to remove the oil drain plug from the first oil pan, and then reaching through the open hole to a second oil pan above and removing the drain from it and hope you don't drop it in the lower oil pan. As a former BMW owner, that's the design used in the K1600 6 cylinder motor and I quickly found a better way: buy an oil drain plug, take an allen key that fits it, cut off the bottom of the L and have it welded to the drain plug so you can easily remove it from the first oil pan with a socket set. PITA!!
  17. @Wintersdark What was the original color of your panniers? Nice job! I'd like to wrap mine with the same blue of my wheels, so close to that.
  18. Yup, my local bike mechanic tacks on an extra charge for cleaning up the messy goop prior to installing a new tire. I use a different tack: When it's time to replace the tires, I have angled aluminum valve stems installed, then install an external valve stem mounted tire pressure monitoring system, not because I'm too lazy to check my tire pressure regularly, but to alert me of a puncture and pressure loss as I'm riding. It saves my ass once as I had a puncture while riding curves. For tire plugging, I have used the rubber mushroom type as well as the tire rope and found the latter held up better.
  19. Thanks for the info.. it helps.. it sounds simple enough, are the provided instructions clear and easy to follow?
  20. and maybe you can give us a short explanation what's involved in wiring it. Thanks.

  22. Thanks for the link. I don't think this will fit my 900GT. I do like the esthetic and the protection it affords.
  23. Yes, please post a pic of the bracket, thank you.
  24. Thanks for the link.. the price seems too good to be true! It looks good, but I guess not in the same league with the Aerostich Transit 3 water proof leather..but the price on the Held and it's features look like a great deal.
  25. Thanks for the link to your ride report... Enjoyed your report very much and goes to show it's not the bike, but the rider.. well.. it's mostly the rider and the Tracer is a very capable and reliable bike.
