  1. Wow, only 30% better on the twitchyness? I would have hoped for a better outcome on that in particular. Is that in A mode or STD? I might just opt for the APS/TPS adjustment and call it good. I don’t know if you followed my thread on Ivan’s flash, but his did not agree with my bike at all. It ran way too rich. Really disappointed to hear that they don’t deliver on the fan temp. That was probably the least concern of mine on the list, but the attitude of “oh well” doesn’t make me want to go through another flash experience that isn’t awesome. Also makes me wonder what else they can’t deliver on. I already know they don’t do refunds. At least Ivan was willing to do that. BTW, there really aren’t a bunch of other posts about 19/20 model years with the 2WDW reviews.
  2. Damm it. They were my next choice for a flash. Other than that what do you notice good or bad on the 2020?
  3. I think cal Sci has one thing right. The vent in the center makes a difference in turbulence. I cut one in my stock screen and it helped go from really bad to almost adequate. I want to cut one in my puig touring but I'd rather find someone who is wanting to get rid of theirs at a discount so I can experiment with that one. PM me if have one you've given up on.
  4. I've been looking for some actual reviews of the 2WDW ecu flash in the last year or so. The last one I found on here was 2017. And it wasn't very specific. Is there anyone with a more recent experience? I don't care much about added power. I want smooth but still with the 900 character of loads of torque. And of course please describe any other changes you noticed good or bad. Thanks!
  5. I feel like there were about 5 left in the country in May of 2020...when I got mine. Can’t believe there was still one left.
  6. I don't want to obsess over it, but with the stock tires, I had a good balance of pressure for the ride and for the larger bumps that we get here. It's like a jolting speed bump on the highway going 55-65. The only change has been the tires, so I thought I'd experiment with different pressures. However I thought getting a little input might help speed up the process. I'm liking the S22 much more than the stock Dunlops...just need to find the happy medium for those jolters. If not, I guess I can address suspension settings (maybe geometry) and see if that helps.
  7. I'm curious what others are using for TP on the S22. I put this in the 900GT area because I would guess the suspension you have will make a difference. Feel free to post no matter what model. But maybe make note of what you have. Stock suspension or not. Weight of total load (rider, bags, etc.). Then what psi you like using front and rear.
  8. Well, the ECU is now back to stock, and back in the moto. I rode briefly yesterday. The quickness is back. The smell is gone. It's not quite as smooth (on/off throttle), and there is more engine braking. The vibration at 4500 and beyond is acceptable. Getting on the gas results in more of the "thank you" attitude rather than "seriously?" I'm glad I sent it back. Thanks to everyone who helped, including Ivan. I don't know where I'll go from here. Not sure I want to try another flash. I'll have to do some more research. I'd still like to get a reasonable option for tweaking settings such as APS and TPS, but so far it seems like that's a $350 investment.
  9. If you're going to change no matter what, I found this to be an improvement. Not a cure but noticeable enough that I'm considering doing it on my Puig.
  10. Well it isn't going to matter now. All packed up and ready to send back to Ivan. I'll get it back to stock and see if there is any smell (doubt it), and then ride it a little and see if I really need a flash. On the upside, I'm getting really fast at getting everything apart. 15 minutes to get the ECU out. Another 5 minutes and I could be at the TB again. If anyone comes up with a way to do simple APS and TPS adjustments on the newer models, please let me know. I think it would be a good thing to look into.
  11. After stumbling on a few other posts, I’m wondering if the smell after the ecu flash could be the APS or the TPS. I remember when the shop did my first service that the tech said he adjusted the throttle...I guess he thought it needed it. Should he have adjusted the sensor when he did that? Because I know he did not do that. Could it have been that adjustment that made my throttle feel extra snatchy and thus “require” the flash in the first place? And exactly what can I accomplish on a 19GT without a real Yamaha diagnostic scanner? Is it true there is no diagnostic mode on models after 2017?
  12. We couldn’t get our schedules to line up. I’m not sure the swap is going to happen.
  13. So did anyone who got S22 feel like it raised the front just a little bit? I should have measured before and after but got too excited to rip into the project.
  14. Sorry, yes caps are good. There really is no Yamaha part. Just have to find generic. Thanks for the interest and help.
  15. I'll get the oil level worked out tomorrow. FJray and I are planning on Sunday for ECU party.
  16. Want to make sure I'm doing this correctly...another suggestion was there was too much oil. I didn't even get the 2.85 quarts in with this last change but OK. So I drained a little. Went for a little around the block test and the oil level light came on. Then it went off then on and off one more time before I got back. Probably two miles. Nothing spirited other than one three second burst. I have the bike as level as I can and holding it up and level is in the middle of the glass. Is there something I'm missing? Allow me to complain about this design. How about put on side stand and check a dipstick?
  17. Injectors tested good. I'm at a loss. Could my ECU be damaged?
  18. stock, but new when sync TB. I had a dream last night. Someone told me to turn TC off and see if that did anything. Could a TC sensor be doing something? It's not rideable at the moment...still apart.
  19. UPDATE - So I've been through the injector cleaner (Fireball). Didn't help. If anything it made it worse. Changed the oil, filter. Didn't help. Went for a ride today with @fjray. Swapped bikes. He felt what I have been describing. It starts at about 4k RPM, can't miss at 4500 RPM, then doesn't really get worse unless you punch it and then it just kind of struggles. Not really loss of power, but not the power that @fjray has. His is also a leftover, and does not have Ivan's flash. In fact he hasn't done anything at all. And his is peppy-er. And almost as smooth as mine with the flash. In fact if mine had run like his runs, I don't think I'd ever have worried about the flash. That makes me think mine has had an injector issue from the get go just like Ivan said. He thinks it's possible that the O2 sensor was masking (compensating for) the issue. So tonight I pulled the injectors. The local shop said they had a little machine of some kind that will test them. So that's the bottom line for me. If they determine a bad injector, then hopefully they have one in stock and I'm back in business. If they determine the injectors to all be fine, then I'm sending the ECU back to Ivan and getting the ECU back to stock.
  20. Do you need some Yamaha software to really be able to do self-diagnosis and see all the codes?
  21. Seating position, side bags, center stand, I could go on.
  22. Had the chance to demo this at the Road America race this Sunday. Agree with all of these however I disagree that the heat on the right leg goes away...maybe at highway speeds but other than that it feels like something is on fire. That's one of the things I think the tracer does really well...no hot spots. I'll add that the setup I was on had the off-road biased tires and with this I thought some of the handling was poor. Don't know if it was tires or suspension or if it has an easy remedy but that was my experience.
  23. This is what I've been experiencing. I have a thread that explains some of my paranoia. I thought maybe it was due to the ECU flash. I also had a new smell that accompanied the flash. I have since synced the TB (twice). Checked chain tension and alignment. I have yet to put real miles on the second TB sync. But at least I'm not paranoid about the right side being more vibey. Makes me feel better also that the flash didn't actually do any harm. I did the second sync about a few days apart bc the first was with an old kit borrowed from a friend. The second was a brand new kit and I wanted to check the first one. Result wasn't too bad with the old one, but the new one showed some syncing left to do. I'll leave the smell to the other thread, I guess.
