Posted February 10, 20196 yr Hey gang, Wanted to pick your brain a bit. Im in a sport riding group and they are doing a group buy for Rotella T6 oil. Its diesel engine oil, but apparently a bunch of track guys go on and on about it and how good it is. Buying 19L at a time ($7.50/liter) Rotella T6 Synthetic Diesel Engine Oil, 18.9-L | Canadian Tire WWW.CANADIANTIRE.CA Rotella T6 Synthetic Diesel Engine Oil provides protection in three critical areas Acid control — helps protect against corrosion from acids formed as fuel burn Even better, Shell has a $25 mail-in rebate on it for 2019 (https://www.shell.ca/en_ca/business-customers/lubricants-for-business/save-five-dollar-per-litre-back-by-mail/better-fuel-economy.html#iframe=L0RJWS90NXQ2L2NhLw). Brings price down to $6.26/liter Anyways, just wondering what people think about running 5W-40 Synthetic diesel engine oil in their bikes... crazy or genius? I usually buy Motul 7100 which is $75 for 4 L ($18.75/liter). Thanks!

I have never tried the Rotella myself but like you, have heard many bike enthusiast rave about it. As long as it is rated for a wet clutch, it might be worth a try. February 10, 20196 yr I've ran it. No complaints. I like Mobil 1 5w-40 more though. My butt dyno says it puts more power to the ground. '15 FJ09

February 11, 20196 yr As I have stated in another rotella thread, I have used it for years in all my engines. Car, truck, lawnmower, street bikes, dirtbikes. I rebuild my own bike engines and the pistons/cylinders always looks good using Rotella. I change my streetbike oil at 3000 miles , I ignore the factory recommendations. Rotella has been my go-to in all my 2 and 4-wheeled rides. It's always worked for me. 👍 2019 Yamaha Tracer 900 GT (Annabelle) 2013 Suzuki V-Strom DL650 (Juliette) 2013 Yamaha FJR 1300 (Rachel) 2008 Suzuki Bandit 1250S (Fiona) 2006 Honda VFR800 (Jenny) 2005 Suzuki V-Strom DL650 (Hannah) 2003 Honda Shadow Sabre VT1100 (Veronica)
February 12, 20196 yr Exactly the oil I use. Used it in my 2001 Concours and I recently sold that bike with 168,000 miles on it. Everything is simple, Nothing is easy
February 16, 20196 yr I used Rotella T in my TT600 for 30k+ miles with no issues. In my FJ I use Mobil 1 4T 5w-40. It's only $9 per liter at the nearby O'Reilly's.

Bi Mart doesn't sell the T6 synthetic at any of its Eugene stores, Walmart does in the 4 gallon size. Just bought some as I am close to my oil change. Everything is simple, Nothing is easy
