Hey gang,

Wanted to pick your brain a bit. Im in a sport riding group and they are doing a group buy for Rotella T6 oil. Its diesel engine oil, but apparently a bunch of track guys go on and on about it and how good it is. Buying 19L at a time ($7.50/liter)

Even better, Shell has a $25 mail-in rebate on it for 2019 (https://www.shell.ca/en_ca/business-customers/lubricants-for-business/save-five-dollar-per-litre-back-by-mail/better-fuel-economy.html#iframe=L0RJWS90NXQ2L2NhLw). Brings price down to $6.26/liter

Anyways, just wondering what people think about running 5W-40 Synthetic diesel engine oil in their bikes... crazy or genius? I usually buy Motul 7100 which is $75 for 4 L ($18.75/liter).

Thanks!

Whats crazy is the Motul 7100 for almost $19 a liter.

I have never tried the Rotella myself but like you, have heard many bike enthusiast rave about it.

As long as it is rated for a wet clutch, it might be worth a try.

I use it. Switched from Yamalube Semi Synthetic. Seems okay. The price is right.

As I have stated in another rotella thread, I have used it for years in all my engines. Car, truck, lawnmower, street bikes, dirtbikes. I rebuild my own bike engines and the pistons/cylinders always looks good using Rotella.

I change my streetbike oil at 3000 miles , I ignore the factory recommendations.

What he said.  Rotella has been my go-to in all my 2 and 4-wheeled rides.  It's always worked for me.  👍

I used Rotella T in my TT600 for 30k+ miles with no issues.

In my FJ I use Mobil 1 4T 5w-40. It's only $9 per liter at the nearby O'Reilly's.

You can get that at walmart in 5 quart jugs for around $25.

Let’s go Brandon

They have the 4T at Walmart? I get Mobil 1 car oil at a local store (Bi-Mart) for about $25, but I've never seen the 4T motorcycle oil in 5qt jugs.

Bi Mart doesn't sell the T6 synthetic at any of its Eugene stores,  Walmart does in the 4 gallon size. Just bought some as I am close to my oil change.
