captfire22
What is this for and can I leave it out? In order to access the latch for the seat, this block needs to be removed, but when the seat is set to the low position its difficult to remove the block. Supporting Member texscottyd Posted March 17, 2019 Supporting Member Share Posted March 17, 2019 So, as I understand it, that block is supposed to prevent unwanted access to the underseat area (thieves & other nefarious characters... like V-Strom riders, for example ). So while you can absolutely get by without it, the rider’s seat is - allegedly - much easier to access when that rubber block is absent. 2

chitown
Never found it difficult. Poke the rubber doohickey up from the bottom by reaching under the rear seat brace with one hand and grabbing from above with the other.

wordsmith
Easier still if you do something like this. I always understood, from previous posts here, that the purpose of the cap is to prevent stuff in the plastic 'tray' under the rear seat from sliding forward and affecting whatever bits are under/ in front of the cap, although that sounds unlikely to me. But what a clumsy mechanism is that entire seat raising and lowering structure and locking system... 4 Riding a fully-farkled 2019 MT-09 Tracer 900 GT from my bayside home in South East Queensland, Australia. chitown
Like that idea but might use black Sugru in place of the hook.
BBB
I have screwed a plastic number-plate screw into the block, with just enough height left to grab easily. The block is definitely there for security reasons. 1 Red 2015 Tracer, UK spec (well, it was until I started messing with it...)

jamespansbro@yahoo
That block seems like a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. 1

SKYFLIX
I've got a CAD of the GT seat block if anyone has access to a 3D printer and would like to print one. I don't know if it applies to the FJ-09, though.
jreinhardt
That is an accessory added by the lawyers to avert possible liability cases in case the latch malfunctions and ejects you and the seat while exiting parking lots!
