  1. What part of California are you heading to? There are SO MANY amazing roads in California. I try to venture down to California once or twice a year, last year I discovered Lake Berryessa and the surrounding roads while on my way to Santa Cruz. 👍
  2. Yes, that is EPIC!! What do you do about tires and oil changes? Round Trip to Oregon + the Rally could be 8-10,000 miles.
  3. Does anyone have any road trip plans for this Summer? While I love a day ride of just tearing up mountain or canyon twisties, I seem to always be looking at Google Maps for the next multi-day ride destination, usually somewhere I haven't been before. This year I am planning a 9-day ride to the Black Hills of South Dakota in mid-July (NOT during the Sturgis Rally 😝) to Deadwood, Sturgis, Keystone, Needles Highway, Spearfish Canyon etc. If anyone has any suggestions or advise on that area, I am all ears. Next year I plan on returning to Colorado to ride in the area of the Continental Divide, Loveland and Independence Passes, Copper Mountain, Aspen etc. Last year we rode to the Durango, Ouray, Telluride area and were awe struck at the scenery! Insanely beautiful riding. What about anyone else? Any epic road trips planned?
  4. It might not be as complicated as you think, there are tons of installation, programming and operating videos on Youtube.
  5. You say when you turn the kill switch off the starter motor is STILL turning. Is the starter motor is continuously turning while the bike is running?
  6. Give it a few years. With all of the upgrades Kawasaki offered on their 2020 models, Yamaha is going to have to make a few changes or get passed by. Yamaha offered CC on the GT and Kawasaki followed suit on the Ninja and Versys but also offered advanced IMU, cornering ABS and TC and smartphone integration, not to mention some models with electronic suspension and superchargers. With the FJR being long in the tooth and no longer Euro V compliant, I think Yamaha is going to offer something new within 3-5 years and it will have to at least compare with the Versys 1000 SE LT+.

  9. Here you can buy the Proton signals exactly for the FJ. Proton 500 LED Flushmount signals - Yamaha I have the X-Arc signals for front and rear and like them alot. X-Arc Lights - the brightest LED Brake lights, turn signals, tail lights
  10. If you go to motorcycle parts websites like Revzilla or RockymountainMC, you can put in your specific year and model of bike and it will show you all of the parts available. Have you already tried the links on the top menu under "FJ/Tracer Parts?"
  11. Turn it over, it installs on its side.
  12. @Winny - I don't ride at night and have no use for high beam. What I did was aim the high beam lower to match the level of the low beam and ride with the high beam switched on all of the time. I don't have to go through any type of vehicle inspection so I don't need a working separate high beam. YMMV.
  13. @DaBizness - The reliability issue you mentioned were on the first gen FJ09. I haven't heard of any reliability issues on the Tracer or GT. Since you already mentioned a radiator guard, the only thing I would definitely recommend for your cross country ride is some sort of a highway peg. If you plan on wiring in a GPS, I do NOT recommend using the accessory 12v outlet, power adapters can vibrate and come loose. I hardwired my GPS to one of the switched power plugs behind the screen, there should be 3 plugs available. The GT comes really well outfitted from the factory, your biggest personalization will probably be ergonomics and comfort. I personally benefited from adjustable levers and a custom built seat.
  14. @roadwarrior - A Google search only returned results from European vendors. I think everyone here who has ordered one has had it shipped from Europe. 15. Just erring on the side of caution - "If It Were Me" - I would do a trial run on gravel roads and even wet surface/mud to see how the bike fares with street tires, prior to heading up into the Alps. As someone who lives in a mountainous region (North Cascade Range) and takes road trips on mountain roads, the weather can change quickly and dramatically. I have gone from Summer weather 80's-90's to torrential downpours and hail or light snow many times going over mountain passes, and it was sketchy on asphalt. If you are venturing up a gravel road and start getting water run-off turning the road into a stream, you could get yourself into trouble in no time.
  16. I did by accident and with street tires, it WAS NOT fun. My GPS led me astray looking for a "shortcut" while on a road trip in Idaho, after about 10 miles the road turned to gravel and before I knew it, it was further to turn around and go back than to keep going forward. With street tires going in a straight line is fine holding the throttle steady around 30mph. I stopped a few times to get my bearings and wheelspin would activate TC and cut power, so I had to turn TC off. Slow sweeping curves in the road were ok but sharp turns resulted in losing traction so I had to ride with my feet down like outriggers. I'm sure with proper tires and moderate speed you would be fine but this isn't an adventure bike, only about 5" ground clearance.
  17. @Larz - Very nice, it will ride like a completely different bike. I spy some beautiful scenery in the background. I hope to make it down to Arizona at some point to enjoy a few days of riding. Enjoy the upgrades.! 👍
  18. With roughly a 60% boost over the flashed-07, I think the swingarm extensions are a great idea.

  20. Those numbers are really impressive considering stock FZ07 hp/tq is around 65/45 and flashed is about 70/50 according to 2WDW. That much quick revving power in a smaller hooligan machine will be a hoot to ride. I hope you have decent suspension to keep all of that power under control. 😎👍
  21. Wait... What's this? You are planning to continue your 2-wheeled adventures? This news makes the selling of your last brand new GT even more unfortunate. Good luck finding your 5th (or 6th?) Tracer. 👍
  22. I understand that completely. 😎👍
  23. That whole section of Oregon between 101 and I-5 is amazing. I have ridden most of the main roads zig-zagging inland from the coast and it never gets old, such a unique experience. You are fortunate to have that right in your backyard!

  25. Glad you guys were able to meet up for a ride, we had monsoon level rains and gusting winds. 😥
