  1. Yes, and it is relatively inexpensive. You need a cradle for your specific model and a diamond ball base to attach to the swivel arm. Note that cradles are not made for every GPS model and most models of the older Nuvi's have rounded corners and the newer Drive models have square corners. I have several GPS units, Nuvi205, Nuvi 50, 2x Nuvi 55's and a newer Drive 51, I had to slightly modify the cradle with a Dremel tool when I bought the newer model to get it to fit. 2. Yes, it is the Garmin Drive 51, the basic model, attached with a ram mount hardwired to the 12v switched outlet behind the screen. During a black friday or cyber monday sale they can be found for around $100, the motorcycle specific Zumo series are over $600.
  3. @daboo - Coincidentally, I am planning a roadtrip to the Black Hills area of SD this summer, - Deadwood, Sturgis, Keystone, Spearfish Canyon, Needles Highway etc. I have never been to SD, really looking forward to it. Thanks for the info on the vest, I welcome all the info I can get before dropping that much cash.
  4. You've got almost 20 years on me, more power to you. πŸ‘
  5. I did have it on he left handlebar near the mirror, exposed to the elements. After getting stuck in a monsoon-like downpour for 90 minutes while on a roadtrip this past Fall, it stopped working so I knew it was time to change the location. If the sun glare is reduced as well, then BONUS! πŸ‘
  6. It certainly looks impressive, however I am curious about using it in hot climates, it cant be breathable at all.
  7. I mounted my GPS above the gauges and behind the screen for better line of sight and weather protection.
  8. @daboo - Thanks for presenting another option. I am researching as many different brands as I can find. I'm still not quite convinced on the tether models, on longer rides, I frequently stand on the pegs to stretch and when I get gas, I dismount and refill on the center stand, I for certain would occasionally forget and set it off by accident. 😲
  9. Agreed, - yours looks nice and clean with just the adhesive. πŸ‘ Do they offer it in satin or flat black?
  10. After the discussion on this topic these past few days, I tried it myself and could not do it safely or accurately, crouching down beside the bike to see the oil level while trying to hold the bike up with my hands above my head was sketchy at best. - Its not necessarily top heavy but it isn't light or stable either. Having the bike straight up and down (side to side) would be much more critical for accurate reading than having the rear wheel 2" off the ground. If you can actually do it that way accurately, more power to you, I cant do it. πŸ‘
  11. Good Advise - @banderso - take care when removing the oem rotor bolts, use heat and direct pressure as they use thread locker on the threads. Its not too difficult to round out at least one of the bolt heads.
  12. LOTS of used R1 rotors on Ebay, I would check carefully for warpage, glazing and/or surface contamination. I have to agree with @texscottyd though, for a few dollars more, just buy brand new. Its kind of like buying used chain and sprockets...
  13. @bugie and @BugsInTeeth - I'm curious, how are you guys both holding it perfectly upright AND checking the oil level on the sight glass at the same time? I use the center stand, as I have for the past 10 years, I just don't know how you can see the sight glass while holding it upright.
  14. +1 I reuse the crush washer several times. I use the low profile R1 drain plug, never had a leak.
  15. I had a loud chatter from the clutch on my '15 FJ, The dealer checked it out and determined that the clutch basket was a little bit out of round, ever so slightly oval shaped. They replaced it under warranty @ 38k miles.
  16. I have never heard of 2 switches on the front brake, look under the brake perch, you will see the switch screwed to the perch, it has 2 electrical contacts.
  17. Agreed. There should be a separate crush washer, usually silver.
  18. @Larz - Thanks for the write-up. I have been considering one as well, (I had a deer strike and am lucky to have walked away) the new Alpinestars Tech-Air 5 vest looks really interesting but I will research all the current offerings. The one thing I am concerned about is ventilation in hot climates. Is there any air flow with a vented textile jacket? 19. If the battery charge only lasts a day, it sounds like its time for a new battery. If you have a multi-meter, check the battery. How to test a motorcycle battery - RevZilla How do you know if your problem is really your battery? How do you know...
  20. I am really surprised that a "seat company" couldn't make a proper fitting seat for a bike... that's all they do. Even their latest revision, while it looks more comfortable, doesn't fit the lines of the tank, its like they got it 95% built and decided to chop the front at a blunt angle and leave it unfinished looking. I hope you like the T-A seat, I have not heard one negative review on Terry's products.
  21. At least here in North America, the T7 isn't due to hit showrooms until this summer, not sure about the rest of the world.
  22. Same engine, yet 2 different descriptions, ya' gotta love Yamaha service manuals.πŸ™„ (spark plug replacement intervals, torque specs and chain slack?) I think this is one of those common sense things, holding it level or having it on the center stand on level ground...? The only difference is using the center stand is infinitely easier and more convenient. Not too concerned with the process as long as it is just below the "maximum level mark".
  23. Famous last words... 😁 Love the white model, very clean looking. πŸ‘
  24. You are correct, the windscreen is the cause of wind noise and buffeting. My brother has a naked bike and when we swap bikes he always complains how loud the wind roar is on mine and I always comment on how smooth and quiet his is... For summer or warmer climates a lot of riders have cut the stock screen down or bought a short sport screen so you still get a clean breeze. I use a modified Puig Touring screen from my previous FZ1, the top lip is about 8" above the instrument gauges, I keep it in its lowest position all year long. I don't have helmet buffeting but there is some wind noise, I counter that with ear plugs and a relatively quiet helmet. I could never do one of the massive barn door sized screens. Good luck.
  25. The battery lays on its side. If you stand the battery upright with the terminals on the right side, spin the battery 180 degrees so the terminals are on the left, now lay the battery on its side with the terminals facing up. πŸ‘
