I'll be honest, for the roads out here, I'd rather have something a bit lighter. BUT, I'm a small dude with a primarily sportbike background, so the FJ feels heavy and the tight windy roads puts a lot of pressure on the front end IMO. Coming from an FJR, you might feel like the FJ is ideal. Tough to say.

I'm sure 300V would work just fine.

I seriously considered both undergrad & graduate school at Pullman. Beautiful area, I've even got a bit of family in Moscow. But damn it's isolated!

Is Pullman considered south east WA? Or is that still too far north?

It will depend organization to organization, but in general 2 pieces are acceptable so long as they zip together.

I gave the FJ a loving pat as I hopped on the Daytona 675 and rode to work.

I'm a Foresthill native, now leaving in E. Tennessee. It drives me nuts they call 49 and/or priest's grade "little dragon". I've ridden the dragon, it's got NOTHING on either. If anything, "The Dragon" here in E. Tennessee should be the little one... /endrant

I can't answer for Daz, but stateside this is the one I'd recommend. Several of my friends have one. They're hugely impressed with how well it does for the price point. Sorry! Something went wrong!

Took the FJ to work today. It was sub 40F when I left, going to be 60-ish when I leave though

KTM is supposed to be ugly, that way you won't cry when it hits the ground. Which if you're riding like it's intended, aggressively off road, it will hit the ground.
