What did you do to your FJ-tracer-gt today?

Recommended Posts

When I ordered PR2 for the FJ, it surprised me I could still find PR2s. Always liked them, ran a PR2 on the rear of a Aprilia Dorsoduro and Pilot Power on the front, nice combo with 1 hour ride to and from the twistys..  (rofl)

I always ran that combo on my 'Busa, and they generally wore out at the same rate.  Good all 'round setup.

I bought PR4s for the FJ9 this time, still not through the set yet, so no long term judgements.  I do like them though.

I was happy to get the FJ out today after a couple of months of neglect due to crappy weather.

New tires, chain and sprockets, and no right-angle valve stems???  :o They are the best $20 you can spend on your bike.

Agreed, 100%!!

Brick,
Since buying the FJ last month noticed the original drive chain/sprockets making extra noise compared to my other chain driven bikes.

The original rear tire had 3000 miles on it. Could have gotten additional miles on it, but also replaced the front/rear sprockets and chain yesterday. I'm going with 20 to 25MM chain sag on the new JT sprockets & DID chain.  Going with a Pilot Power on the front in a couple thousand miles.

DID calls for 20 to 25MM chain sag unless OEM recommendation is different, I went with DID recommendation:

The original front sprocket had phenolic collars on both sides of the steel sprocket:

Not sure about this, but chain noise may have been coming from chain contact on the collars on the front sprocket:

JT sprockets:

The rubber on the sides of the front sprocket is for noise reduction, it's just that they are about three times the price of a/m nobody bothers with them..

Agree, great tire combo and both tires last about the same mileage. Trying a PR4 on the back of a Vstrom right now, fine tire.

In my attempt to get out from the unneeded Overtime by not working the weekend did not go according to plan... I got the weekend off but totally forgot to grab my box with my ECU and QS off my desk ? since i got out the door so fast like 6th gear pinned fast! Just in case they changed they minds about OT, to send to Nels at 2wdw so he can make a tune for a FJ/FZ-09 with Woolich Race Kit and Graves Exhaust...

Im also curious to see if disabling the " closed-loop " fueling aka ECO mode( Woolich QS plugs into stock o2 connection on bike wire harness, hence the closed loop being disabled) compares to the current listed Graves Exhuast dyno graph on 2wdw vendor page...

I have no problems with the Woolich Race Kit, I love having the extra features the system provides such as the Auto-Blip on clutchless down shifts, the clutchless upshifts and the secret weapon ? Launch Control ?... I used this set up on the stock exhaust and had Nels put the stock flash tune on it and i put 2k miles on it in the last 2 months before winter hit with hardly no complaints only 2 very very minor things that could tweaked that i cam recall...

Now i just gotta wait till monday morn to send Nels his new project and then wait for the day the ECU and my new shiny Graves Exhaust show up on my door step ?... Till then i will take my time installing my Givi windshield that arrived a few days ago...

Put red striping tape on the side panels... and modded the stock screen into a shorty (cut ~7" off the bottom end), mounted to the Puig Touring bracket. Very happy with the look of the screen (will take some photos with it on the bike tomorrow). Had to shape the bottom of the screen a little bit (with a heat gun) and used 1/8" spacers to better align with the bracket geometry.

Very nice sir! Where did you get the red striping tape? What is the width?

yes the UK/EU map is worlds better than the USA one - or at least the user can tune it via CO. I could understand running poorly at the EPA measured openings and RPM ranges but to screw up idle/off-idle and on/off throttle transitions is just sloppy IMO. But I haven't read the regs, maybe the CO standard is so asinine there is no way not to cause the more egregious fueling issues. if Trump's EPA could do just one thing right - throwing out the stupid on emissions would garner them a huge PR boost.

Got some shiny objects in the mail...ECU is still at 2wdw so Nels can make a tune for the Graves Exhaust w/ Woolich Race Kit... I am having Nels go thru all the features such as upshift, downshift and launch control so it turns the FJ-09( or FZ-09) into the FJ-35 ?... Yes the exhaust came pre-assembled like its showing in the picture!!!!, even the carbon can was in its own custom Styrofoam shell!!! The best quality control to ensure the parts dont get damaged in shipment i ever seen... I do not wanna take the exhaust pipes out of the sealed packed yet as the ECU is still at 2wdw...

The heaviest part is the carbon fiber can, weighs bout much as a 2 liter of pop ( soda pop for you Californians ?) and the headers are light as a feather!!! The welds are so pornographic they censored em!!! all the ends and fittings i see are all precision machine fit... Hardly any obvious signs of the tube bending machine doing it job which tells me the tooling is well kept up on... I will install it in the next couple weeks or if my ECU comes back before i get around to installing the exhaust...You all know that as soon as you install a nee exhaust system you wanna hear it!! But i need my ECU to start the bike ?... and before I even put the exhaust on I already pulled the baffle... good thing I did, they used ppppllllleeeennnnnttttyyyy of locite to hold the bolt in, looked like a crime scene with that much red ...

Any questions or other pictures, feel free to ask...
