  1. I have 19500 miles on my ‘19 GT. The previous owner installed Grip Puppies over the stock grips prior to my purchase of the bike with 4400 miles on it. I like them and they show no wear. The GT does have a slightly stiff throttle pull which requires one to probably hold the grip tighter leading to some wear. I doubt the dealer will warrantee the grip but it doesn’t hurt to ask as it does sound like premature wear with only 3500 miles on your bike. https://grip-puppy.com
  2. Here is a application chart from Pazzo levers…..lots of levers that interchange.
  3. That is a very interesting Givi Monokey case that I was unaware of. I have a Monokey base plate on my ‘19 GT and normally run an old Givi E36.
  4. At this point in motorcycle development there should be multi adjustable seats, foot pegs, and handlebars on most motorcycles from the factory. After all, how long have cars/trucks had adjustable seats, steering wheels, and in some cases pedals? I hate to spend extra $$$$ to replace a new seat, foot pegs, and/or a windshield on a brand new motorcycle.
  5. The key blanks are the same for all three of my Yamaha bikes…..an Ilco with number X248 YM63 and we’re about $5.00 each cut at the local locksmith.
  6. My 900 GT has the original plugs with almost 19,000 miles on them and the bike runs great. They will be replaced with OEM plugs when the valve clearances are checked around 24,000 miles along with the OEM Yamaha air filter. I won’t fix anything that is working fine.
  7. It is going to be a sunny 25 degrees today and dry…..time to turn up the heated gear.
  8. It snaps in and requires a little force to separate the trim from the support. Make sure all push pins have been removed. I had mine off several times and like you did not want to force anything the first time👍
  9. Check for wiring damage from rodents if a short ride doesn’t re-set the electronics. I just talked to a friend with a new Honda Ridgeline that had major wire damage from squirrels getting into the engine compartment while his vehicle was parked in the driveway.
  10. I’ve been riding daily at the other end of the great state of Illinois as it is unseasonably warm for this time of the year. I am hoping for another minimal snow winter👍
  11. I used a very close match of blue graphic tape on my 2019 GT saddle bags to break up the solid black.
  12. I have had good service from Battery Mart house brand batteries. https://www.batterymart.com/SEARCH.html?q=ytz10s#/filter:top_level_category:Powersports$2520Batteries
  13. I would own a VFR1200X DCT if it had factory cruise control…..gotta have it as I age and my hands are tired and cramped. I am waiting on the rumored Transalp 750 DCT and hope it has cruise. If so, it will replace my Tenere 700 and Tracer 900 GT. I’ve ridden a couple of Africa Twins and the DCT wins hands down for me.
  14. Nealy tire repair kits are highly recommended on many motorcycle sites….I carry one but luckily haven’t had to use it. https://www.nealeytirerepairkit.com/repair-kits
  15. I bought a new Tenere 700 in July 2020 and a new Super Tenere two weeks ago. Both were/are serviced with Yamalube and Yamaha OEM filters while under the factory warranty just to avoid any problems with Yamaha. Both bikes will be serviced with oil and filters that meet Yamaha specs when beyond the warranty time frame.
  16. Normal……buy a Super Tenere and you will never hear the Tracer engine rattles.
  17. I am guessing that Yamaha installs the endless chain with a regular staked link in the captive swingarm at assembly?? It is certainly not an identifiable master link like a replacement chain would have. The parts diagram does show a replacement chain that does require the install of a master link. I still think you have more leeway for the 17 t install with the rear wheel out and the chain flopping about. I had to do this to install a 16t on my KLR650 as the chain was fairly new with minimal side slop.
  18. I doubt that there is a master link on an endless OEM equipped motorcycle chain. The endless chain is probably installed about the same time as the swingarm during factory assembly. I just checked my Tenere 700 OEM chain and it is endless with quad staked links and no master final link. I changed out my OEM Tracer GT chain at 15500 miles and never saw a factory installed master link. I would think that the 17 t countershaft sprocket will be easier to install with the rear wheel out which allows more movement of the chain side to side. To the OP……will those chain/axle block adjusters slide further forward in the swingarm? The Tracer GT swingarm is 2” longer and the blocks will slide farther to the front.
  19. I have run an after market “Adlo” top trunk with the stock saddlebags ….. no noted problems at all. The trunk base plate is a Givi knockoff that came with the bike when I purchased it used. I run an old Givi E 36 top box most of the time and no saddle bags.
  20. Too much garage space is just about right. I downsized on house size three years ago but increased my four car garage size from the previous house’s four car. I have had a three or four car garage since 1989…..it is the least expensive part of a house and the most underrated. It makes working a motorcycle so much easier and you can leave a bike apart awaiting parts while not having to move everything out of the way.
  21. I’ve ridden CO 141 numerous times and first found it on a dual sport ride from Moab to the Gateway Resort via John Brown road about 15 years ago. Four of us rode out of Gunnison in early August this year for a week. It was hazy, but I did not smell much smoke as I did the last two years in CO.
  22. I got more boot for my money!
  23. I have an eight year old pair of Alpinestars Web Goretex lined boots with lots of miles on them …… still waterproof, easy to walk in, and look decent. I liked them so much that I bought another pair in Jan 2015 as a back up pair….. they will soon be put into full time service. I like the Web Goretex boots as they are real leather with Goretex. I’ve owned Lorica synthetic Sidis that were too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter…….give me real leather👍
  24. This is the first time in my riding career that all of the Yamaha stars have aligned and I have an all Yamaha motorcycle fleet in my garage. I like low maintenance, reliable, reasonably priced motorcycles as I ride 20,000+ miles a year.
