  1. I bought mine used which came with a clear Puig tall......you have a good point about the water spots in an inaccessible spot. My Tenere 700 three piece clear windshield is even worse.
  2. I've read this thread and have a few thoughts. I would definitely remove the aftermarket brake lever to see if anything changes....I had an aftermarket clutch lever on my Super Tenere hydraulic clutch, it had terrible feel, and I could not bleed it properly. I installed the OEM lever and all was good. Can you remove a caliper and take some detailed pictures of the pistons....they should look like new when cleaned. I always clean mine with pipe cleaners when installing new pads before they are pushed back in the caliper. Remove enough brake fluid from the reservoir so the brake fluid is at the low level...not at the top line. Have you polished (not just lubed) the brake pad pins/sliders as many will wear a slight ridge or groove over time. Can you see the return brake squirt in the open master cylinder when lightly squeezing the brake lever? That's all I got.
  3. You know they run the best right before they blow up. Right?
  4. My Tracer GT has 9000 miles and my Super Tenere has 44000 miles......both brake switches work fine.
  5. Some tar snakes are more dangerous than others......depends on which brand and what type of application method. I’ve ridden on the same type you mention......slick and hazardous, but also on tar snake that feel just like the roadway. Some road districts throw sand on the fresh tar to provide better traction. Buyer beware.
  6. I bought my ‘15 S10 and ‘19 Tracer GT used and did not receive the recall letters, but my dealer ordered the brake light switches for me for the install when they arrive. It looks like a 5 minute install for either bike.
  7. I use old toothbrushes with the head cut off and shaped to a point. It does not scratch the rim when levering the weight (clamp on or stick on) off the rim. I use Goo One to remove the two sided tape used on stick on weights. My used ‘19 blurple rims had a few nicks that were touched up with almost perfect match of finger nail polish.
  8. There was no tire spot on the Michelin Pilot Power 2CT rear tire I mounted today. This is the first tire I mounted on the Tracer. I use Bridgestone Battle Wings on my Super Tenere and they rarely require more than 1/2 oz of weight to balance.
  9. It is raining today so I installed a new rear tire. I mounted a new Michelin Pilot Power 2CT and it was one of the easiest tires ever mounted. I balanced the bare rim first (took 21 grams) and after the tire was mounted required only 7 grams more to static balance out perfect. I still have 3/32" tire tread depth on the front Pilot Power 2CT (they come with 5/32") which should have me wearing out the front and new rear around the same tire next time. The new rear has 7/32" tire tread depth new. I got 4465 miles out of the rear FYI.
  10. You can remove light scuffs/scratches with a cleaner wax like Kit branded wax. It has extremely fine cleaner abrasives that polish the scuffs out. I have been using it for almost 50 years for this purpose. Looks like the same thing here...renamed. Advance Auto Parts - Down for Maintenance
  11. Yes, just push the pistons in.......clean them first and make sure the reservoir isn’t too full. I clean the pistons with brake cleaner soaked pipe cleaners and usually remove some brake fluid from the reservoir......then, top off after the pads are pumped into contact with the rotor(s).
  12. And if the solutions above aren’t getting it done.....
  13. 500 Euros = $603.85 dollars........buy two new tires for $250.00, buy 80 gallons of premium gas for $250.00, and use the last $100.00 for rides to lunch.
  14. I bought my ‘19 Tracer GT used with 4400 miles and it had a new set of “balanced” Michelin Pilot Power 2CT tires. The front tire/wheel had a severe hop above 75mph so it was rebalanced by me on my static NoMar tire balancer, re-installed, and then rode smooth as glass. You did the correct thing in replacing the apparently bad OEM front tire.....it happens as I have had a couple of bad tires in the past.
  15. Hello Steve....as the saying goes: you won't miss what you don't have. I have a 2019 Tracer GT purchased used with 4400 miles in October 2020. I have ridden it 3900 miles in three months---the bike is addicting! I will look at a 2021 in a few years. I would not pay $2000.00 more for a 2020 over a 2019 as they are identical other than color. You are a good weight for the bike...I am 6'4" 225 lbs and the suspension is OK with me with the preload set up for higher weight. I did install 1" lower foot pegs and add an EBay adjustable windshield spoiler to the tall Puig windshield that the bike came with. The seat is a compromise....not good, not bad. I will say that this is my 50th riding year and this bike is one of the most fun bikes ever owned.

  17. I am definitely riding on New Years Jan 1, 2022 if the roads are clear
  18. There are no transponders on the three Yamahas I own......2015 Super Tenere, 2019 Tracer 900 GT, and 2021 Tenere 700. They use regular metal cut keys. The USA list price on the 2020 Tracer 900 GT is $12,900.00 dollars and the EU site shows the same bike at 12,900 Euros or approximately 15,829 dollars converted. The USA price does not include shipping, sales tax, or registration. It is widely discounted and can be purchased for $11500.00 plus tax and registration where I live in the US.
  19. It was common years ago on the Honda ST1300 forum for members to use cut down plain keys epoxied in a cap for use with the luggage locks ..... looks good and works good. The USA bikes use plain, non transponder keys that can be duplicated at any locksmith for about $5.00 each. I may create some short keys for my Tracer GT. ST1300 Glove box Keys
  20. I wouldn’t have any problem running a 530 chain on 525 sprockets......a 525 sprocket is 1/16” narrower than a 530 sprocket. Having said that, I will go with a 525 sprocket/chain set when replacement is needed. According to this chart, there isn’t much weight savings between 520-525-530 chain per foot. The average tensile strength is close also. I checked the EK chain specs for 525 and 530 chains.....tensile strength was identical for all but their most premium spec chain.
  21. It is absurd that the exhaust valve clearances are that tight with such low mileage. I think mine will be checked early and shimmed as needed.
  22. As above....lightly brush on some kerosene and hose/wash.
