  1. I have been wearing modular HJC IS Max helmets for about a dozen years. I have three currently and rotate according to season......I wear one at the end of its life in the humid summer when I am hot and sweaty........it gets tossed in the trash at the end of summertime. I consider a helmet a short time consumable and replace regularly.
  2. Normal with most motorcycles. I park my motorcycles in neutral unless on a hill.....I also start my bikes in neutral + pull in the clutch to reduce clutch plate drag.
  3. I immediately installed a side stand big foot on the pathetically lame Tracer GT side stand. Take your pick.....it is a huge improvement for bike stability when parked. yamaha+tracer+900+side+stand+enlarger | eBay Find great deals on eBay for...
  4. I run the Ogio tail bag on my Tenere 700.....quite sure it will easily fit the Tracer. It is reasonably priced, has lots of storage, rain cover included, easy to remove, etc. Ogio Tail Bag | ChapMoto.com Purchase the Ogio Tail Bag for only $89.99 or browse our massive...
  5. The faster you shift, the smoother it will be.
  6. EBay shield for around $25.00......works great for me at 6’4” tall.
  7. Do you clutch on up and downshifts? I shift up with the clutch 99.9% of the time and rarely use the quick shifter. I never shift without clutching on a downshift. Also, some transmission gear sets have slightly more undercut engagement dogs to prevent the bike from jumping out of gear under acceleration.
  8. I've always done that......been riding for a very long time. Same thing when trying to get some difficult transmissions in neutral while stopped (KTM!! 690 Enduro R!!).
  9. I haven't had any problems shifting my bike, but normally slightly blip the throttle during each gear while downshifting. It is an old habit that seems to smooth the downshifting by keeping the transmission spinning.
  10. I would unhook the clutch cable ends from the clutch lever on the handlebar and the engine lever. Push/pull the cable back and forth in the outer sheath.....you should able easily to determine if the cable is rough or hanging up due to a frayed inner cable, damaged outer sheath, or some broken strands. If the inner cable movement is smooth, your problem lies elsewhere. Just like you did👍 So, it is inside the case. Make sure you have enough cable free play when adjusting the cable. I didn’t like the pull of my Tracer GT clutch cable and installed the longer clutch lifting arm from the R3.
  11. Just like this: SAE/COAX Plug Adapter Cable 6in (Battery Tender Adapter) Description SAE/COAX Plug Adapter Cable 6in (Battery Tender...
  12. I run the heated gear coax cable between the tank and front seat. I carry a coax to battery tender SAE adapter cable in case the bike is put on the battery tender. This eliminates having both cables. I also also carry a single controller with a splitter cable to run my gloves and jacket liner in case my double controller fails (which has happened in the past to me). Mine failed about 100 miles from home in 20 degree weather........thus, the spare👍
  13. Until I was 40 yoa, I wouldn’t ride with a windshield or luggage.........then I saw the light.....and after 40, I wouldn’t ride without a windshield or luggage. YMMV
  14. I removed mine and saved it for the next owner who will remove and save it.
  15. I would/will go with some EBay knock offs. I have a few Yamaha spares, but an extra bag would be handy as my three Yamahas use them extensively.
  16. It looks like my local BMW dealer has more than a dozen in stock....about the same the last time I checked. www.gatewaybmw.com
  17. Did the dealer have any German get back whips?
  18. Maybe my 2019 wiring is routed different than the 2020 (doubtful), but my wiring was wound around other wiring tight enough that you would not be able to remove the old harness unless the ties were cut or the harness cut to allow sliding the connector or switch through. My Super Tenere was routed in a normal fashion.
  19. If done in ten minutes, they have experience with other Tracers and definitely had to cut some straps👍
  20. OK, I’ll answer my own question. I removed the front brake light switch and approximately two foot long harness from my 2019 Tracer 900 GT today. It was a difficult task as the harness is tightly routed under and around other wire leads, the front subframe, in/out of the fairing to where it terminates under the right front of the gas tank. You will have to remove the right fairing, inner fairing, and the trim ring that encircles the front of the gas tank. I had to cut a couple of the black plastic retention straps as it impossible to release them where they were located given the tight packaging and lack of access. None the less, the switch and harness were removed intact for replacement by my Yamaha dealer this week. I don’t know what the flat rate is for the recall, but I can’t imagine a mechanic removing and replacing the switch in less than one hour ....... that is if they ever seen a Tracer like my dealer who mainly sells ATVs/UTVs. My 2015 Super Tenere was quite a bit easier than the Tracer with the packaging not nearly as dense. The gas tank needs to be raised and the right side electrical panel needs to be released by way of the four bolts that secure it to the bike. So, both switches/harnesses will be installed this week and my cruise control will work on both bikes.......the Super Tenere was not working; the Tracer GT was still operable. FYI....YMMV
  21. I am going to replace the brake light switches on my Super Tenere and Tracer GT. The Super Tenere was easy to run the wiring from the front brake area to the terminus under the right panel and above the battery. The Tracer GT is a lot tougher to trace and release the front brake switch wire lead due to tight packaging, hard to release wire loom ties, difficult to see areas behind the headlight assembly. My ?? Has anyone replaced their Tracer GT front brake switch yet and if so....any tips?
  22. I topped off the battery with the tender as I won’t be riding for a week or so.
  23. Try spinning the wheel off the bike with the axle inserted and resting on jackstands or wheel balancer ... see if you can hear anything. I have a 2019 Tracer GT and have had the front wheel out twice....just went out and spun the wheel with the front lifted off the ground, with OEM pads in calipers, and the wheel spun quite easily for a couple of rotations with a hand push/spin. Mine was silent and smooth. BTW, my bike has 9200 miles and is on the second front tire...
