  1. From the website... " Select hi-beam to modulate - as long as there's sufficient daylight. If you enter a tunnel or if it gets dark, it will stop the modulation of the hi-beam and stay ON steady. Select lo-beam to end modulation." Would still be nice to see it in action on the FJ... 🙄
  2. Good quality fuel, well tuned engine, and some basic regular maintenance is all you need to keep the motor healthy. Not surprised that the guy who sells the stuff would endorse it. Snake oil... shelves are full of this stuff.
  3. I would think that the screw type adjusters (like Gilles) are more accurate (infinite resolution), but take a bit more fussing to set. LighTechs look nice.
  4. Thanks. Planning something different for next season, and will be looking for a tire that can do a bit of dirt/gravel and not be too bad on pavement. Interested in how it does over some distance for you. You're in Florida... so we should know just in time for spring. 🙂
  5. I saw a modulating headlight in action just recently on an older model Wing... heading toward me in opposite direction. It really caught my attention from quite a distance away. The only previous time I saw one of these I dismissed it as a broken headlight. 😕 LED high beams on the FJ are brutally bright though... would be unkind to have these strobe in traffic. A cap over the sensor would put a stop to that I guess. It would be way cleaner to have the feature integrated into a switch cluster somehow. No?.... anyone? 🤣
  6. Could you show us how it works on your bike? Found the link... P115W-H3-FJ04 | Designed, Developed and Assembled in the USA 2015 & Newer Yamaha FJ-09, YZF and Tracer models with Factory LED...
  7. How do you have it mounted on the bike? Some options... or combination of: use anti-glare screen change height and/or angle of the display turn up display brightness I have thr Glare Stomper on mine, but the GPS is mounted fairly high, above the instrument panel. Not much you can do when sun is directly behind you, but it works pretty well under most other conditions. I wear hi-viz at times (yellow jacket), but it's the sun from behind that will render the display impossible to view. Good luck.
  8. Several times a season (~300km/ride), with my 100lb (geared) daughter and just a bit of luggage (side cases). For reference, I am 210lb geared, so we're probably around 330lbs all in. The bike works well with the new suspension and we enjoy the rides, but I would not want to ride heavier.
  9. Looks comfy. Some decent rise on this thing... and nicely swept back. Good find.
  10. ...what @skipperT said. #3 on diagram below.
  11. Search for type 194 bulb socket... like this.... unless it's for the line end connector (opposite side), then it would be something like this (I think). You'd have to do some cutting and such... very doable.
  12. If my brake lines were due for replacement, I'd be replacing with SS lines... same effort. I don't see any cracking or contamination in the fluid, so not really tempted yet... but winters can be long and dangerous on the wallet. 😕 As others noted... refreshing the fluid in the lines every season makes a big difference. Big rotors and HH pads also contribute a little... 😁
  13. Congrats on a very nice shock. 👍 Had a similar cost experience with mine... bought from Nitron in the UK and ended up saving almost $200 over what it would have cost me buying from Revzilla or Fast Bike Industries (no distributor in Canada). I will have to pay a bit more to send the shock for service (FBI in the US), but the savings will cover shipping for at least two service cycles.
  14. Vacuum leak on the TB somewhere maybe? Recall someone on here having an issue like this some time ago... think it was a bad O2 sensor upsetting the AFR. Throttle returning to home position with a snap? Good luck hunting this down.
  15. I had great hopes for the Pinlock visor in my RPHA70... but it was not to be... 1) my glasses fog up, and 2) I could not get used to looking through three layers of lenses. The Pinlock produced weird ghosting effect under certain light conditions, and had a slight bluish tint. Love the helmet otherwise. Ditched the Pinlock and now just crack the visor open to defog in cool temps. Rain is a challenge... depending on temps and severity... not a fan.
  16. Enjoyed this a lot. Sounds like the two of you really connected... have fun!
  17. Well, if a customer comes complaining of vibration at speed... that should have been one of the things to check... and yes, MC wheels need balancing. It's a rotating mass with components on there that can impact balance. Sounds like you might want a second opinion from an independent MC shop.
  18. Did they check that the wheel is balanced? Does the front end feel light at that speed? Just poking for more clues.
  19. I had the eBay pegs for three seasons... then the rubber cracked and peeled away... found out on a trip as my footing felt floaty... lesson learnt. Bought MT-09 adventure pegs from yamabits... here.
  20. Congrats... will make the ride much more enjoyable and safer. Low cost options are out there, but man... deciding on which one can be a chore. I went with fundamentally the same combo... springs and a re-valve kit, albeit not all at once. Worked out very well.
  21. Great news overall then... and at least the timing chain cover gasket is an easy fix. Just have to mind that the chain guide pivot pin stays firmly in place (crankcase side) as you remove the cover.
  22. Plan for next year... do NS, NB and PEI, by way of ME (coastline), and then back via QC (or the other way). Will need full two weeks to do a loop that includes eastern NL... hope to be able to do that some time.
