  1. Yes, in the the price breakdown listed above, springs were part of the package.
  2. While on a road trip to Colorado last summer, I had had stopped and chatted with a guy on a R 1250 GSA. I spent several minutes looking at the details and craftsmanship and was VERY impressed, dare I say it seemed actually (almost) worth the $24k asking price?! However, (according to Revzilla's spec sheet) it has an almost 8 gallon fuel capacity and 36" seat height, it looked MASSIVE!
  3. I agree about the visually heavy look and it almost completely blocks the wheel. The BOS looks much more streamlined. 👍
  4. Nothing has changed with the forks since the last time they were serviced, November 2018. The fluid and seals have about 18k miles since then and are scheduled for the next service at the end of this season. I was asking around on the FZ09 forum as well and the rebound rod was mentioned just like you suggested, so that is something to look at. Like I had mentioned, the forks currently work well, I was out for a ride experimenting with different setting when I discovered that both legs were on the very last click. That is where I originally started thinking- If I had them disassembled for a service and possible revalve, would it be a worthwhile 'upgrade' to get a set of drop-in cartridges? Thanks for the help
  5. Since you asked... 😎👍 $1100... Akrapovic Racing Exhaust System Yamaha FZ-09 / MT-09 / FJ-09 / Tracer 900 / XSR900 | 10% ($120.59) Off! Born from racing, this stainless steel exhaust system represents the most... or $800 K-Tech RCU Razor-R Rear Shock Yamaha FZ-09 / MT-09 / FJ-09 / XSR900 K-Tech RCU Razor-R Rear Shock offers riders greatly improved adjustability...
  6. When I had my ECU flashed at 2WDW, I called and talked to them about some of the changes and they told me that A-mode is 'quick turn', not more powerful but it happens in a slightly shorter turn of the throttle. I sent my ECU back when I got my Scorpion exhaust for a different fuel map, I also had them set it to default to A-mode and couldn't be happier, very smooth and controlled, not jerky or choppy at all.
  7. What I am saying though is, the compression damping screw adjusts low speed compression while the high speed (non-adjustable) is affected by valving restrictions or oil viscosity. If I change to a higher viscosity oil to compensate for the rebound, - I believe - that the high speed compression will suffer, thicker oil resulting in harshness. Is this correct or am I thinking wrong?
  8. @keithu - Is the Rally still scheduled or has it been cancelled like everything else this year?
  9. I was out on a ride experimenting with different clicker settings and realized that the rebound settings were on the last available click. I have considered a slightly heavier oil but wondered how that would affect the high speed compression- pot holes and harsh road imperfections. If I'm not mistaken...(???) the compression adjustment controls the slow speed movement??? To be honest I haven't consulted a suspension shop about this yet since its the weekend. I have the specialty tools to do a basic fork oil or spring change myself but I don't want to chase one issue and create another. To be honest, I'm not sure what Matt used to modify the stock forks, considering the extremely low price I'm fairly certain he didn't install Gold Valves or any other aftermarket manufacturers piston kit, was it modified oem parts?. Fork cartridges modified with rebound and compression pistons in each leg + new springs + rebound fork cap for 2nd leg + packaging and shipping across the country for less than $500. Even though they work well, curiosity has me wondering, could they be improved? could they be really, REALLY improved?
  10. I cant really tell from the photo but is the actual top layer of the faux carbon coming up? For any adhesive I just use something like Goo Gone.
  11. I have the Forks-By-Matt (Pattonme) upgraded cartridges in my 2015 forks, both legs are activated with rebound and compression pistons and rebound adjustment caps. I have the rebound adjusted where they feel best but discovered that is on the last click fully closed- clockwise. I would prefer not being maxed out in case I want to adjust further at some point. The question is, if I'm going to spend the money to get a revalve to modify the rebound circuit, would it be worth the additional cost to get drop-in cartridges? Compression adjustment on the fork cap would be nice as well. Has anyone changed from a piston kit on stock cartridge to custom built cartridges? Was there a difference in feel, enough to justify the cost? This Fall I will be due for the 2nd 2-year suspension service and would have any modifications done at that time while the forks are torn apart.
  12. @wordsmith - Good luck getting the ergonomics sorted. Since the previous owner was a fair bit larger than you, don't be surprised if the suspension technician suggests getting lighter springs to match your weight. There's no better feeling than when you get the bike adjusted and fitted for YOU and everything is 100% correct and comfortable.😎👍
  13. 75mph @ 7500rpm? doesn't sound right to me, what is your current sprocket combination?. I have +2 teeth taller rear sprocket for quicker acceleration and at 70mph I am at 5,000 rpm, 75mph at 5,500 rpm.
  14. Consider he is an instructor at Yamaha Champions Rider School and lives at the track dragging knee for a living, I would say "Extremely Enjoyable" = FAST!😎👍 Also look at his fuel economy with the gearing he selected, 17/43 runs at lower rpm (highway cruising speed) from stock, mine is geared the opposite, the 16/47 sprockets make mine higher rpm and I still average the same fuel economy as he reported, he must have been hauling a$$.
  15. @bugie - What type of riding do you do? K-Tech's Razor-R Lite might possibly be all you need for the rear. Emulsion shock (oil and nitrogen are NOT separated) and no compression adjustment but for general riding, this would be a definite improvement over stock. 16. 2nd tip. If your R9T only has a few minor issues, (other bikes should be so lucky) - keep it and ride the wheels off of it! I have never ridden one bit it IS a great looking machine.
  17. Probably not an issue on shorter rides close to home, I do a lot of longer out of state rides and fuel range is something I always have my eye on. Depending on how easy or aggressive I am riding, I can gauge (relatively) how far I can go before hitting reserve by the fuel average. From experience, mine has always been about 3 mpg optimistic, so if it reads 48mpg average, I know it is actually about 45mpg, x4 gallons = 180 miles safely without accounting for reserve. I don't listen to music so I run numbers through my head...🙄 It could also be my nature to always push buttons and see read-outs. I am constantly switching between the 3 menu screens checking Fuel, trip distance and temperature readings. 🤷‍♀️
  18. I'm glad it was a simple fix and you didn't need to bring it to the dealer! 👍 On my display, I use Trip 1 for the fuel tank at fill-up and Trip 2 for the actual total ride distance. When ever I fill the tank, I reset Trip 1 and Fuel AVG.
  19. Reading through this again, when you refuel and reset your trip meter #2 do you also reset the fuel average reading? they are separate and need to be reset independently.
  20. Pazzo are very nice, Ive used them on past 2 bikes. FWIW, for anyone ordering Pazzo levers you can get different length combinations for clutch and brake, short/short, long/long, short/long or long/short.👍
  21. The brake light wiring is under the passenger seat, find the light and trace it backward to a connector. Splice into it the same as you did on your Fazer.
  22. I haven't heard of that issue before, is this a new issue or has it had that reading since new?. Is it under warranty? I would at least call the dealer and talk to the service manager.
  23. Does option #2 have a custom (specific to YOU) shim stack or is it an 'off the shelf' generic configuration? The reason I ask is, everyone uses their bike for different conditions, touring, commuting, sport, track etc. and the valving (and sometimes the spring stiffness) will be very different for each. Usually with option #3, when buying direct from the company, they build them specifically and exactly for your riding conditions. I would at least send an email to K-Tech and ask about option #2 to see if it can be made with a shim stack that meets your specific riding style. At a minimum, getting the correct springs for your weight makes a huge difference in the bikes comfort and handling.
  24. Even after you reset it to zero it still only shows 61mpg? Is that reading for average or current mpg?
  25. My front brake issue was kind of the opposite, instead of warped front rotors, my front calipers and pads were replaced under warranty due to very bizarre wear patterns on the pads. I haven't had a front brake issue since, love the Y.E.S. warranty coverage. Glad to hear that they took care of you and you are back on the road.
