  1. Anything in particular? There are a lot of good options out there to choose from. You are only an hour away from Traxxion Dynamics!
  2. The first time I pulled the linkage pivot bolt it was dry and had started to rust. I don't know what the service interval is but I grease the swingarm and linkage bearings annually. After you have done it once and figured out how everything comes apart, its actually quite easy and I would be very surprised if it took an hour to complete. I do the same thing with a brake fluid flush, annually, regardless of the service interval in the manual.
  3. @piotrek - That's quite a list, it should keep you busy for a while. Curious about the wheel bearings and spacers. Do the spacers wear out? Whenever I have the wheels off I always pull the dust seal from the bearings and pack in a little more fresh grease, not sure what the lifespan of a wheel bearing is though.
  4. @wordsmith - So glad the issue is fixed and it was a simple remedy! @skipperT and @StealthAu - Thanks for helping a stranded rider - Good job. This site and its members are the best. 👍 Other readers (myself included) will hopefully catalog the knowledge for future use.
  5. EK ZVX3 Series 525 ZX-Ring Chain Screw Type Master Link - Sportbike Track Gear Purchase the EK ZVX3 Series 525 ZX-Ring Chain Screw Type Master Link...
  6. I haven't taken it out for a ride but the lever pull feels a bit lighter. When I installed the new arm, I lined up the marks like usual and then moved the arm 2-3 teeth further outbound (clock-wise) to get the correct cable adjustment/engagement. YMMV. If we have decent weather, I will try and get out tomorrow for a quick ride.
  7. Where is leaded gas still sold? I thought legislation ended that over 20 years ago. When I talked to 2WDW about fuel, I specifically asked about ethanol-free gas and was told that when they make fuel maps they use pump premium E10 from either Shell of Chevron and non-ethanol gas would run richer.
  8. I installed a clutch arm from an R3. I was reading the FZ09 forum and someone mentioned that the longer arm gives it a slightly lighter pull so I figured I would give it a try, it was $11-$12. The clutch pull IS noticeably lighter but I cant really say a quantifiable percentage. This is the same modification that folks used to do using the clutch arm from the Bolt, except this is cheaper.
  9. Could you post some well lit photos? Would love to see what you have done. - Thanks
  10. Next week I have an appointment for valve check/adjust, spark plug replacement and TB sync. I also need to do the annual greasing of the swingarm and linkage bearings as well as shifter and brake pedal pivots. The suspension isn't due for servicing until next year.
  11. I should have clarified; - not so much labeling the lines as much as knowing which of the 4 ports on the ABS module to connect them to, front/rear/input/output.
  12. Absolutely agree. Thoroughly trace each line visually from start to end, it will become evident where the oem hard lines will need to be cut for removal. Don't bother trying to salvage them, you will never use them again. And only do one line at a time, you don't want to accidentally get them mixed up at the ABS pump.
  13. I installed mine recently. If you have any questions, just ask. Once you get the old lines removed, the new lines are a piece of cake to install.
  14. @dazzler24 - I just wanted subtle accents, so I used silver tape. I contacted CGD Graphics on Ebay, I had them cut me a sheet of 3mm silver stripes, the longest they could make was 24" long, which was plenty. 8x 24" stripes were less than $10 shipped. I also bought the reflective wheel decals from them.
  15. Agreed, it is a fantastic bike but beyond incremental changes over the years, it is a 17 year old design. It still works well for its intended purpose but in today's climate of never ending technology, emission standards and "keeping up with the competition", you either keep up or get left behind. I really hope Yamaha recognizes the FJR's legacy and adapts to the current market with a fresh update (like Honda's Goldwing) and not a forgotten memory.
  16. Good to hear that they are taking care of it. Are going to get a different replacement or just a full refund?
  17. Does the '19 MT09 have separate adjustment on the fork legs? compression on one leg and rebound on the other? My buddy did the Stoltec upgrade on his '15 FJ, it was a very nice upgrade. 👍
  18. Wow, that is one SEXY machine! It just screams hooligan! 😎 It still amuses me that they even bother with passenger accommodations.
  19. Yes, the service manager at my local shop is curious as well. He said most of their customers don't ride as much as I do so they haven't done a 2nd valve check on a CP3 yet. I will be sure to post my results.
  20. No, this will be the 2nd check. 1st time was at a little over a year ago @ 23K, all exhaust valves were tight, plugs looked fantastic and TB sync just needed the very slightest tweak. At that time, my mechanic suggested the 2nd valve check should be closer to 20K interval just to be safe. Based on the results next week, we will determine the next interval, +/-.
  21. I even have the Helibars riser (+1" up and +1" back) and the standard kit from Spiegler fit perfect. They have several rubber grommets on the lines and include bracket clamps and spacers for perfect placement of the lines.
  22. I'm really not understanding what is going on with Sargent getting the seat correct on the Tracer. I assume (i know, silly me) they have a donor bike like any other seat builder so they can get the dimensions and angles correct. Even this new revision that they did with the seat looks like they forgot to (or purposely decided not to) match the angle of the tank. I have several riding buddies with Sargent seats and they all fit the bikes angles/shapes perfectly.
  23. @johnakay - Sorry to hear that the seat didn't fit for you, have you already contacted them to get it corrected? So far, from reports on this forum, this seems to be an isolated case as everyone universally praises the seat in fit, finish and comfort. I would at least contact them and try to let them make it right.
