  1. I may eventually upgrade the stock suspension on my bike. The stock bits on the GT are not too bad, and adequate for the intended purpose of the bike with my weight, (173 pounds....lost a few since I started running). My only real gripe is the harshness of the front fork over rough pavement. I used to ride pretty fast and aggressive in the twisties but after beating the odds for years, I have decided I to slow things down. Will continue to ride on the stock suspension this spring and decide if I really need to upgrade based on my more relaxed pace of riding. But.....I do agree that suspension upgrades are money very well spent, especially if you are hunting apexes at a fast pace. I had the suspension on my Ninja 1000 rebuilt by Traxxion Dynamics and the improvement was remarkable!
  2. Who here went from the stock seat to the Yamaha comfort seat on their Tracer GT, and was it a noticeable improvement?
  3. So far I am good with the suspension on the 2019 GT. It's adequate but not ideal by any means. I may eventually have the forks and shock rebuilt. However I could not say the same for my 2013 Ninja 1000. The rear shock was horrible and the front end was not a heck of a lot better. Talked to the folks at Traxxion Dynamics and they basically offered two options. Rebuild the stock bits with new springs, valving and fluids as well as polishing the front forks which was the less expensive option, or do the AK-20 cartridges up front and a Penske triple adjuster in the rear which cost quite a bit more money. I went with the cheaper option and the results were excellent. You don't have to break the bank to get good results.
  4. Another question along this topic. I have a power port wired directly to the battery with a 15 amp fuse. Will this damage a cell phone battery if I were to plug it in for a charge?
  5. Nice photos. I like your top case. Looks like a rack with adapter plate?? Care to share with us what you have there??
  6. Held gloves are excellent and I have owned several pair. The only glove I like better are the Racer brand. I have a Held one piece suit that I bought many years ago for track days. The build quality and materials of that suit are top drawer. One of the best pieces of gear I have ever owned. I no longer do track days but still used the suit.
  7. Welcome and congrats. It's a great do it all bike. Fun for spirited riding and very capable of long distance touring. Stick around.....lots of good information here and a good group of riders willing to help each other. 👍
  8. A set of the FJR pannier lids in black. A better riders seat made on the factory seat pan so it will fit properly.
  9. On the Tracer GT, if you remove the passenger pegs you are also removing the lower mounting points for the bags. I wish they had designed it so that they were separate from each other. Trading them for the FJ-09 rear peg mounts makes a bit of extra clearance for the riders heels when getting up on the toes. I thing the goal with the GT pegs was to add a little leg room for the pillion, which meant they were designed to be a bit lower.
  10. Have not hear of anyone being able to flash the ECU through the data port. Pretty certain it requires removing the ECU, which on this bike is not difficult.
  11. Shutting off the O2 sensor is just one of the many things you will get with a quality ECU reprogram. Ivan is one of the best at this and you can see the details of his work here...…... Ivan's Performance Products One of the important things that he does is to eliminate the fuel cut off for much smoother throttle response.
  12. I was scraping pegs and the toe sliders on my boots but never the center stand. After making some suspension adjustments, including sag measurements I scrape the pegs far less often. My only gripe with the bike is the clearance between the rider and passenger foot pegs which makes it difficult to get up on your toes for spirited cornering. One of the forum members here swapped out his GT passenger pegs for the FJ-09 pegs and gained a bit over one inch of room for his heels. Might have to try this myself.
  13. Congrats on the purchase. You got a great deal!!! After much research I purchased a 2019 GT and could not be more pleased. Never once have I had any sort of steering wobble with the bike. The stock suspension is decent and after setting sag and making the proper adjustments it works well. My only gripe was the abrupt on / off fueling in A mode, but that was fixed with a reflash of the ECU. Wow, you have a dream job. I would love to ride my Tracer GT through the Dolomites!!!!
  14. Something like that would be great on the helmet visor.
  15. Awesome bike. I bet that thing is a riot to ride. Love the sound of that crossplane four cylinder. Congrats and enjoy!!
  16. Wonder what the heck you ran over that made such a hole in your tire. There are numerous small portable compressors you can pack on the bike along with a tire plug kit. You will need a better outlet for the compressor than the one that is on the bike. Something like a Powerlet that wires direct to the battery. Saved me on a couple of occasions.
  17. Great photo. Congrats on getting the GT. If I were in the Bay area I would love to ride out to Yosemite for a couple days. That place is amazing!!!! Welcome to the forum. Lots of friendly and helpful folks on the website and a good source of information on modifications and accessories.
  18. Best of luck to you and thank you for your contributions to this forum. Question.....will you replace motorcycling with a new passion? I always thought if I ever had to give up motorcycling I would like to try karting.
  19. I am looking for a new riding suit. Aerostitch is on my radar.
  20. Ivan has a comprehensive flash for your bike. Ivan's Performance Products
  21. Somewhere I read about a small camera for the dashboard of your car that records the last thirty minutes of activity. Essentially it records thirty minutes of footage and then begins replacing the first part of the recording with the latest, so that when you stop the recording you will have your last thirty. The main purpose was for accident data. Should be adaptable to the bike.
  22. If you run it in gear on the center stand it will throw a code, and yes, only the dealer can clear the code on a 2019 GT. I had a code due to a blow fuse and it locked me out of the user menu and shut off the quick shifter. Clearing the code put things back to normal.
  23. I did one of these on my Honda VFR some years ago and used a 330 ohm resistor. Or you could just send your ECU off to Ivan and his reflash will shut off the O2 as well as give you a number of other improvements. 😉
  24. Congrats and welcome to the forum. Wow.....coming back after a 22 year layoff!! The Tracer is a great all around road bike and I hope you like yours a least as well as I do mine. Regarding the Triumph, I would love to have a Street Triple RS for hooligan riding and track days!!
