  1. Nah......local very reputable independent motorcycle mechanic I use says that most any engine he checks valves has tight exhaust valves, in particular high revving race derived engines. He also mentioned that once everything is adjusted to middle spec, most shim under bucket valves don't vary much from there on out unless you are doing track days. We check valves for a reason, both for peace of mind and engine longevity.......there is no defect with this engine.
  2. My Tracer brakes were for sure better than my previous V-Strom for sure right off the bat, but the fronts felt a bit wooden until I properly bedded them in......NOW they stop amazing with great feel. I'm a big fan of Galfer HH pads, that's what I will be going with once these are ready to be replaced.
  3. Yeah I am very familiar with the C14 model, friend of mine had a 10 and still had many of the issues which occurred on the 08/09. Kawasaki screwed up with that bike, still doesn't have ride by wire and cruise control. I had an Area P exhaust and yeah it sounded sick and was fast, looked great with the bags off too.
  4. HATED that damn bike in so many ways, yet it was fast....and heavy.....and hot.....and cumbersome, and had plenty of annoying issues which ruined what should've been a great platform for Kawasaki and in at least my owner experience. The FJR is/was all around better machine IMHO, and I am not so sure that a C14 will smoke a Tracer. Sure it has a faster top speed, and "might" get a Tracer in the 1/4 mile.......but in any other performance and reliability category the Tracer basically smokes the C14.
  5. Bit of kerosene or WD40 on a microfiber towel or will use simple green and hose off. The Dupont chain saver lube makes minimal mess if any on the back wheel, so I don't have to do this type of cleaning much.
  6. Aerostich Darien light, it's not too bad for anything under 85F.......and most certainly has been waterproof for me.
  7. Oh yeah I had an 08 C14 and the on/off throttle response was MUCH WORSE!!! I don't find my GT to really be much worse than my Strom 650 was, I typically just stay in standard mode.
  8. I'm looking forward to getting rid of these tires, shame Yamaha put shite tires on such a nice machine.
  9. I'd run 87 in a pinch only......otherwise gonna always be 91 or higher.
  10. I will for sure be going this route likely in the Spring, I mean for the small amount of money I just have to. Yamaha (2019-20) Tracer 900 *Comfort* Width: 12 1/8" Height: Same as OEM Details:Don't let the painful factory...
  11. Had a Tuturo on my V-Strom and it is very nice and works as advertised, but I did a fair amount of off pavement and riding in the rain on that bike......so this is not needed on my GT. Plus I am back to using the most excellent Dupont chain saver lube in the squeeze bottle, IMHO there is no better all around manual lube concoction on the market.
  12. That isn't the latest Wing design either.
  13. Not nearly enough for the rear shock and I am of similar weight, and what about your other settings for the forks?
  14. Shim under bucket valves "in particular exhausts" going loose is almost unheard of. Did they provide the previous to new clearances on the paperwork and what all else they did? If it ran fine before they worked on it......very obvious they screwed something up.
  15. I still have the NW part of the USA to explore, other than that I am so wanting to ride in Switzerland/Austria/France on a tour.
  16. A 50L top case is beyond insane IMHO, but hey that's just my opinion......looks really awkward on such a small bike as well. I think the 39L Yamaha case is about perfect, and what I will very likely be going with. We don't want the front end any lighter than it already is, the bigger the case the more it holds and the more it can potentially lighten the front end.
  17. Yeah the "real" 3M black vinyl wrap could be a potential winner, and yeah easy to reverse back if not happy with the results.
  18. Good luck mate and enjoy, KTM's and Ducatis are fabulous machines when they aren't having issues.
  19. Powder coat or you're just wasting your time and money. Of course that means the entire fork assembly is gonna need to be completely disassembled, but I can see no other way to do it right or permanent.
  20. Running a tank dry or low often will burn up your fuel pump, the fuel is what keeps it cool and lubricated.
  21. I assume the FJ-09 kit works for our GT, and aren't adapter plates needed for the egg shaped Yamaha cut out?
  22. If original chain/sprockets, you ought to be considering replacing soon especially if you've not been lubing regularly.
