  1. The dash diagnostics is a less accurate way of testing. But if that is showing a issue I would be ordering a TPS. My throttle bodies needed a good clean at 40k. Made a big difference to the bike running too.
  2. One of the tests you can do with a multimeter is to go through the resistance range and make sure it gradually changes. There should be no dramatic steps and should be very linear. You should be able to pin point the dead spot easily.
  3. No mate that is not normal. Sounds like the TPS has a dead spot. I would be pulling the multi meter out to confirm. Plenty of videos showing how to test them.
  4. Buell footpegs used to be a good mod for the long legged people. They drop down around 10-15 mm which can make a difference.
  5. Then you need to have a set of discs on the wheels as well, or swap them over each time. Pads will take some time to wear in again to the different discs. They don’t all wear the same. It really isn’t that hard to change tyres at home. It is all technique. I do both ends under a couple of hours taking my time on a manual tyre stand.
  6. Best thing you can do with that hose is paint some nice bright alignment marks in paint pen on the air box, hose and cam cover. It’ll make it easy to line up correctly.
  7. It is out of spec, as a mechanic I would pull the cam and set it up correctly. Then not have to worry if you are going to burn expensive valves in the near future.
  8. Reasons not to... your tyre fitter may throw a tyre lever at you what that crap goes everywhere whilst he is trying to fix your tyre. It stops a proper internal plug from sealing. It rarely ever actually works. I have seen some of them do nasty things to rims and the paint on them. As you may have guessed I hate the stuff! 🤣 I would just carry a plug repair kit and get a proper internal plug fitted when you can.
  9. FWIW, the mechanical clutch switch on maguras one needs a layer or two of heat shrink on the micro switch arm to correct its operation.
  10. The clutch switch also plays some form of role in returning the fuel mapping to a base setting when idling. Mine wasn’t quite set up right and wasn’t engaging soon enough and was making the idle rough. Occasionally the motor would stall on fast decelerations. It was also stopping the silly eco light from coming on for some reason.

  12. The main fairing bracket that the headlight and everything bolts to. It hangs off the front of the frame.
  13. Another thing that hasn’t been mentioned yet is the top fairing bracket, sometimes these are slotted as well and you may be able to get a better fit if you loosen it off and realign. I used to always do this when I was doing a smash repair at the shop to get the panels fitting nice and square.
  14. Fit up the Wezmoto lines, good quality although needed a few rubber grommets in certain places where the abs sensor clamp. The connect up to the hard lines rather than replace them like others, made the job a little tedious with the bike needing the tank air box and throttle bodies removed. Took the opportunity to give the throttle bodies a clean while I was in there. Cycled the abs down the driveway and some wet grass. Worked well! Brakes feeling much nicer although not completely solid like I prefer.
  15. I have only heard squeaking and squealing noises at idle from water pumps. I’d try changing the coolant first and making sure it isn’t diluted with normal tap water.

  18. By all accounts you sound like you will be all over it. Main thing is make sure you have the manual as the CP3 is a tad quirky with some of the finer details. That is a sexy bit of kit isn’t it??!! There was a car show locally that had a heap of corvettes. There is something special about them. And yes big pity about the steering wheel! 🤣
  19. Good point on the check vs adjust Skip, easy as to do a check and then if you need to take it to a shop for the adjust. Otherwise slap the cam cover back on and ride for another 20-40k km.
  20. I always laughed when people asked me that question at the shop. I find it easy! 😜 But I’ve had training. Depends entirely how mechanically minded you are. Some people are naturally heavy handed and don’t have the required attention to detail. There are some specialised tools needed, some can be made though. The process itself is basic enough but you need to be methodical. Workshop manual is a must. What sort of tasks have you been comfortable doing up until now mate?
  21. Bit of oil under the rubber boot at the top helps with corrosion and free movement.
  22. Awesome! I always went out of my way to clean and sync throttle bodies when I was spannering. All but the gumbies noticed a smoother engine, especially when combined with the correct valve clearances and fresh plugs. Very worthwhile!
  23. I’ve got the magura/xsr clutch fitted to mine, beautifully smooth, I’ve got some sort of funky nerve pain in my left arm and no longer notice the pain when commuting in heavy traffic now.
