  1. Any mechanic that says things like that is hopeless IMO. If a bike is tuned correctly it won’t load up the plugs with carbon. I’d be getting the tune checked.
  2. You can buy case savers for them, used in racing a lot. Search for Mt-09. Probably find them a bit easier. Left hand side is the stator/rotor cover.
  3. 5/16ths is 8mm, the plus 90 degrees as Skip said is where the torque comes from. I personally wouldn’t go higher than 6 foot pounds on the alloy bolts. Torquing anything alloy gives me anxiety...! 😂
  4. Ended up going with some from Wezmoto in the Uk. Got them to make the top line a little longer for my risers. I’ll let others know what they are like when they get here.
  5. Ah yeah forgot about galfer, thanks. Trying to find someone to buy off in Australia who isn’t going to charge $500 like Hel does. The different models between countries makes it confusing as hell.
  6. So what brands do we have to choose from? Spiegler, Hel, Goodridge, any others I’m missing?
  7. Both normal noises mate. You get used to them or they get less intense with time... not sure which! 😆
  8. Not an issue. Only difficult thing is breaking the bead to replace the tube on the side of the road with the safety bead on the rim. Put 100k on a tenere on the road and done my fair share of tube swaps.
  9. How good is Aldi? They always sell quality stuff at silly cheap prices. Love em!
  10. I’m only 38 and I know about that stupid procedure! But I did work in a Harley and Triumph shop for a while so I know my fair share of archaeic designs and ideas! Also fuel and oil leaks! 😂
  11. Yep! Very common misconception. Mist bikes and cars have the fuel pick up sitting on the bottom of the tank. It was different when they had fuel taps.
  12. If they don’t basically fall out when the bolts are undone you can use a pry bar to gently open the clamps. Then de burr as necessary.
  13. Or the front wheel is installed backwards and the abs ring is on the wrong side. Or the abs sensors have been damaged on install/removal.
  14. Cheers matey, bloody hell, $20 a pair? How do they make a quid?
  15. Hey Wordy, do you have a link for these? Think they’d make some good reversing lights for the buggy. What wattage are they rated at?
  16. I heard they were coming with a free ute as well... 😆
  17. Yes when muppets do not correctly refit the engine breather tube to the air box and it gets kinked over, the engine builds pressure and pops the seal with the least resistance. The Mt/Fj-09 air box to breather hose needs to be correctly clock so it doesn’t kink.
  18. 100% if you combine it with the slipper clutch it becomes silly light and a blessing in traffic.
  19. I’d like a lower first gear for traffic but a taller 6th for cruising... anyone help with gearing recommendations for that?? 🤣
  20. It has been shown many times that Yamaha lied with the tacho on the R6, i myself have seen how far out it is on a dyno.
  21. I just replaced mine in my ‘15 tracer. I had a lithium that I’d been using as a camping battery that was the right size! Sometimes you get a win. The original while still working was requiring a charge between rides and not holding its charge too well. 4 years old with about 39,000k’s on it.
  22. Discolouration is not ideal but definitely not the end of the world and the welds will be fine. The headers will turn a different colour when run anyways!
  23. I want to know his maintenance history. That is impressive!
  24. Alarmingly for me as a mechanic means riding valves or close to. Or valves that are tight in multiple successive checks. We used to set the valves closer to the tight end of the scale on the track bikes for more lift and duration. However pointless it may have been. Valves have differing sized shims for a reason and they do move. If they were the old screw style tappets they would just get adjusted and no one would even care!
