  1. Since our Governor implemented phase one to lighten up restrictions on outdoor recreation, I went out for 370 miles of much needed "Two Wheel Therapy". Tiger Mountain, Snoqualmie Pass, Canyon Road (through Yakima Canyon) and White Pass.😎👍
  2. I don't know of many other bikes with the features or ergonomics of the Tracer GT and have the same light weight and agility. If there is a solution to help out a fellow rider make a bike fit, I hope someone chimes in with some useful information.
  3. I love it. I have done the same gearing on past bikes for about 25 years. Quicker acceleration and it seems to tighten up the transmission gear ratios. I can still pull a long time in each gear but with stock gearing it took longer to get to the 'sweet spot' (5k and above).
  4. Unfortunately not many bikes of this style are noticeably shorter, the Versys 650, Honda CB500X, CB650, Yamaha MT07/ 09 are all around 32" tall.
  5. Have you tried the knob 'softer' or 'softest'? if you lessen the adjuster it 'should' make it less harsh but will also make it slightly more 'springy'. The best way I can describe the 'one knob does it all' type setup is - think of your home stereo, what if one knob adjusted both bass and treble in unison, when you adjust the bass so its not too booming, now your treble sounds flat or if you set the bass so it shakes the walls then now the treble will shatter glass, if you adjust one then it affects the other. When you call them tell them exactly what you are experiencing and what you want to achieve.
  6. Which shock do you have, R1, R2 or R3? If it is the R1 then the adjuster changes the rebound and compression simultaneously with one knob, the upper tier shocks have individual adjustment. The custom built shock 'should' be a noticeable improvement in ride quality, however I don't find one adjustment that alters both rebound and compression damping to be ideal, *for my needs*. I usually get the compression set and then leave it but fine tune rebound a bit more. The ride height adjustment raises the rear, same as lowering the front, more front weight bias and sharper steering input. According to Nitron - Please include your weight (with any specific requirements you may have regarding whether you want a lower or higher default seat height - i.e. if you are taller or shorter than average) and state how your bike is used (i.e. road solo only, road with pillion, road and track or track only etc.) as we will be building your shock to your specific order with the optimum length, spring rate and damper adjustments pre-set for you. If you need further information or assistance, please call us to discuss your needs. Nitron will build your shock to order with the specification based on your individual needs and with all adjustments pre-set (see above) If it was custom built and they didn't get it set up correctly for you, I would give them a call.
  7. I got it mounted today with a mesh air bag, perfect for carrying emergency rain gear or lunch. Its stretchable enough to carry at least twice what I have on there now.
  8. 'Most' sport-touring tires will handle mixed riding, commuting, touring and canyon carving with ease, they will handle relatively smooth forest roads at moderate speeds but definitely not ideally. I was trying to find a shortcut between 2 highways in Idaho last year and took a wrong turn and ended up on about 25 miles of gravel roads, moderate speeds and a foot down in sharper corners was fine for the one time through but if I was riding that far on a relatively regular basis, I would want different tires but I'm not sure I would want/need dirt tires just for a 3-mile section.
  9. I can confirm what @skipperT posted. Bike running in the driveway, just pull the trigger switch for 2-3 seconds and you are in the menu's. 👍
  10. I had to position mine a little differently because I couldn't see the turn signals.
  11. Absolutely true, underwear or shorts can make a huge difference in comfort and it goes without saying that jeans can be the most uncomfortable with the thick seams. I usually ride in mid-thigh length boxer briefs or spandex/lycra cycling shorts with minimal seams.
  12. Motorcycle memories that will last a lifetime! Live for the adventure 😎👍
  13. OK, got it. I misunderstood. Yamaha made it difficult for us Americans giving the bike so many names in different parts of the world. It was the MT09 Tracer everywhere except the US where it was named FJ09, then they made both a MT and a Tracer model. 🤷‍♀️
  14. There shouldn't be any difference whatsoever in the slope between low and high position. When you move the seat height adapter plate from low to high position, the seat is just sitting on a different 'step' of that plate.
  15. So since you ordered for the MT09, the difference might be for the center stand. There are some exhausts made for the FZ/MT that do not fit the FJ/Tracer unless you remove the center stand.
  16. Did you contact the shop you bought it from about sending you the correct part that you ordered?
  17. I personally use a basic Garmin auto GPS. I have both a Nuvi and a Drive, both 5" models and less than $100. I don't recommend using anything in the 12v cigarette lighter plug long term, I have already replaced the socket and the 2nd one is now working intermittently as well. I have my GPS hardwired to one of the switched auxiliary power sockets behind the screen, it always turns on and off with the key.
  18. You will need something like this to mount them. Yamaha Turn Signal Adapters Spacers for Aftermarket Stalk Type Indicators Front or Rear Yamaha Turn Signal Adapters Spacers for Aftermarket Stalk Type...
  19. Agreed, I would never use it on wheels but I like all 3 colors in that example. I'm going to research powder coating colors and finishes for my wheels.
  20. @Touring EU on FJ - Mine is purely for asthetics, I wanted something silver to contrast the black. The lights are X-Arc turn signals, I have them installed front and rear. They are aluminum, nearly indestructible and arguably the brightest LED signals available. X-Arc Lights - the brightest LED Brake lights, turn signals, tail lights
  21. I really like the look of the true metallic colors. Lots of possibilities.👍
  22. Good job fabricating. I like a DIY solution. Keep us updated on how it works for you out on the road. I like the blue paint in the honeycomb 'intake' area, I covered mine with silver mesh.
  23. I think it might be riding technique as well, unless it is a very tight downhill hairpin type corner or a corner that has caught me by surprise, I set corner speed with the throttle and transmission, not the brakes. I roll off the throttle (think of a stereo volume knob, not a light switch) to set corner entrance speed and use steady throttle to the apex and roll on throttle through the exit.
  24. Idaho has a lot of amazing riding, I love passing through.
