  1. The factory switch on mine was very sticky with road debris and oils. Over the years I had cleaned it a few times and adjusted it numerous times to get proper actuation. My adjuster was at the max end of adjustment but that does nothing if the plunger switch is clogged and stuck. Those issues are now a thing of the past! 👍
  2. One of the best things you can do is become familiar with your bike, disassembly and reassembly to gain access. Once you do it a few times and figure out the order that the panels fit, getting the seats, panels and tank off should take less than 10 minutes working at a relaxed pace.
  3. Very nice indeed! 👍 Its going to be a long winter waiting in anticipation.
  4. That had me concerned as well, I had to clock it so it was tight at the angle I wanted. The nut DOES NOT turn independently from the switch assembly, that would be too easy. I tried it a few times and would start the threads 90 degree differently each time if that makes sense. What worked for me was starting with the switch pointing toward me as I worked beside the bike, looking from the top would be 6 o'clock orientation. YMMV.
  5. Let the wife know that you fully intend to use protection - ATGATT 😎
  6. I bought the Spiegler switch (M10x1.25). I like the 90 degree angle, cleaner looking install IMO. Spiegler Brake Light Switch Out of all the hydraulic brake light switches on the market, there's only one...
  7. I couldn't agree more, suspension is the #1 "performance" upgrade you can do to any bike. My buddy also has an FJ and I kept telling him to get the suspension upgraded but he would always brush it off as a frivolous expense. Then when we were on a road trip and swapped bikes for about an hour, I almost couldn't get him to give my bike back- he was absolutely amazed. The day after we returned from the trip he ordered new suspension. 👍
  8. Today I cleaned and greased the swingarm and shock linkage bearings and installed a Hydraulic pressure rear brake switch.
  9. I installed the switch this morning, no issues. It is such a better design than the factory switch, no exposed parts, no adjustment to get it to engage, it just works. 👍 You can see how much road grime and crud is clogging the original switch.
  10. True, but OP was specifically asking about the GT, that's why all of the responses mention it.
  11. @texscottyd - Completely irrelevant to this discussion but an opinion nonetheless. I am not a fan of any bagger-style bikes but if I was ever to be swayed, it would be the Honda Goldwing. And more than likely I would get the DCT version. 2018 Honda Gold Wing Review | 15 Fast Facts If you like most of the functionality of the Gold Wing Tour and don’t need...
  12. I dont know of any that will fit with the Akrapovic since the header doesn't follow the lines of the engine. I have the Ermax belly pan and there is no way (without cutting it up) that it would fit with the Akropovic header.
  13. The handlebars are 1-1/8" and yes the risers will fit but the brake line has to be removed from a bracket to allow enough slack. Trace the brake line down and you will find where it is attached to the bottom triple clamp. One other option that is popular with FJ/Tracer owners is Helibar Risers. 14. @nhchris - Have you ever considered buying online and having a bike shipped? I have purchased 2 bikes online and the transaction went flawlessly. Each time I paid about $500 for shipping and the dealership arranged everything, all I had to do was pick the bike up. I recently saw a few dealers offering new 2019 GT's for under $11K on Cycle Trader. Paying $2k under MSRP and then paying for shipping is not a bad deal. Cycle Trader also has a feature where you can put out a request for what you are looking for and dealers will contact you with offers. 2019 Yamaha Tracer 900 Gt For Sale in Orlando, FL - Cycle Trader 2019 Yamaha Tracer 900 Gt For Sale in Orlando, FL on Cycle Trader.
  15. I was shocked when I saw it on the shelf at Cycle Gear for $25 a can a few months ago but your link to Amazon @ $31 a can is just crazy. 😲
  16. I dont think a '16-'17 will "feel" any different from the '19 but there are several different features. Difference between the '16 and '17 FJ - the '16 is offered in Black or kind of a silver/white with blurple wheels, '17 was blue or white. The '17 came with an assist/slipper clutch and a data port to scan and clear error codes, on the '15 and '16 you could access the codes through the screen menu. The earlier FJ's can be upgraded with the '17 and newer clutch, oem heated grips and quick shifter thats offered on the GT. Cruise control can be added from MCCruise. improved cruise control performance Tagged "FJ-09" - Motorcycle Cruise Controls
  17. Both. I hit the deer broadside and folded it in half, the bike and I slid across the oncoming lane into the opposite ditch. ☚ī¸
  18. I also had a 2006 FZ1 - Liquid Silver. Top of the line suspension and a custom dyno tune, I loved that bike! Unfortunately I hit a deer and totaled it.
  19. You can easily bring it up to Tracer GT spec. except for the TFT screen. Mine has been upgraded with everything except a quick shifter. The one area that you probably wont need any mods is the engine, the linear torque curve on this thing is intoxicating.
  20. There are many that will get the job done, personal preference I suppose. A few attach with zip ties, personally I would avoid those. I bought the guard from Cosmo Radiator Guard HoneyComp
  21. @MemphisTracer - Welcome aboard. Good looking bike, I have the Red '15 as well. 👍 Pretty much all of the bikes quirks and or short comings have been identified and this forum is a wealth of information offering solutions or options to address any concerns you may encounter. If you have any questions, feel free to ask and if you are looking to upgrade any components, there are many here more than happy to help you spend your money. 😎 If you do nothing else to the bike, I would suggest at least getting a radiator guard.
  22. Look at the post right above yours. That links to a previous thread where everything is explained in detail. Its fairly simple if you are adept with basic hand tools.
