Intent to recall FJ09 March 25, 2015

Recommended Posts

Blackfoot Motosports just finished my recall work yesterday and dropped the bike back off at my house. In the end, it took around a week for the parts to show up and only a couple hours total time to get the work done.

Hell YES.  Mine would not upshift without at least two toe stabs.  Now it's practically an automatic. :D  I don't do the clutchless thing, like some of the other riders in the forum, but with rapid clutch action, it's SOOOOO much better.  Shifts like the old Ventures.  Just a tap = snick - into gear.

BTW, Talked to Brian at Yamaha - his number was given to me by their switchboard as the FJ 09 specialist. Seems my posting his extension got him in some type of hot water.  APOLOGIES to Brian.

Coleman PowerSports in Woodbridge, Virginia did the work on the bike and from the dealer side - no complaints. As it was processed as a warranty item at 110 miles, got the parts quickly.  Could have gotten the bike back on the night of the 10th, but had no ride to the dealer's, so got it the next morning and rode it away. Very pleased with my FJ 09 now.

Mine does the same thing. Feels like I have to double clutch it at times. The shop should have my recall parts next week. Hopefully this will solve the problem like yours did.

I have not tried the clutchless as I was still in break in when I learned about the recall.  It actually stalled on me, twice, going into the same turn down shifting into second.

I've ridden the bike, but I haven't ridden it hard or very far in one trip.

So folks, please do keep in mind some members have found fault in the shift action and this fixes it.  Yamaha have said do not ride.  Be aware, be safe, get it done and have fun.

I really hope that parts don't take until June to arrive.  I am waiting to take delivery of my bike and can't pick it up until the replacement part is received.
If all they are doing is looking at the ship date in the parts order system, it will continue to say June.  Yamaha USA do that to keep larger dealer groups from ordering all the kits.  Your dealer will have to file a warranty claim against the VIN of your bike to get a kit released.  Should be there in a day or two.

The dealer will have to call Yamaha to get the kit released.

Signed my purchase paperwork 3/29 but dealer wouldn't release the bike to me because of the recall. Parts came Saturday 4/11. Brought it home today. First ride and it shifts nicely.

Got my recall notice today!! Now I have to schedule it to be done, and hope it doesn't take too long for the part(s) to come in. The notice says that I shouldn't ride it until the modification is done, but that will be so hard to do, since the weather is perfect this time of year here. It better not take until June, or I will be highly pissed off!!!
