  2. What features are you hoping Yamaha updates or implements? I would like a more updated/ advanced electronic package with IMU for lean angle and cornering ABS and TC and I wouldn't be opposed to Yamaha offering a second version with semi-active electronic suspension like the FJR, R1M or even the Versys.
  3. I have been thinking the same thing, I'm not expecting any huge advancements or many revised/ updated models this coming year.
  4. Mine did the exact same thing, I thought the GPS was malfunctioning until I swapped out the GPS units between my car and truck. All of them worked fine in the vehicles but they would lose power when connected to my bike, it turned out that I had a faulty direct-wire power cable. I replaced the power cable and haven't had any issues with the GPS units in over a year now.
  5. @wordsmith - Not to derail this thread but I am dying to know, what is your criteria for the duration of changing bikes? Is it a fixed 6-9 months on the calendar? or when the little rubber nubs wear off the tires? or in line with a seasonal equinox? 🤣 Seriously though, the R9T is a very nice bike, isn't yours only a few months old?
  6. Do you have any photos or diagrams for reference to the method that you use? I am always open to new methods if it is more effective and it might be beneficial to a lot of other members on this site.
  7. Well, at least you know that the throttle bodies are synced perfectly. 👍
  8. @foxtrot722 - Thanks for the 'how-to' pictorial. Your method of supporting the bike certainly works, I just use a floor jack under the header and raise from the front. I use a folded up towel on the jack so I don't scratch the header but the front tire only needs to be lifted 1/2 inch or so off the ground.
  9. Thanks for the photos, that is EXACTLY how I use my frame sliders. 👍
  10. FWIW, I think the ones I bought are made of Delrin as well.
  11. Not just for 2020, Yamaha has been doing that for quite awhile with both street and dirt models, mixing gloss paint with satin or matte body panels, also various textures, some very smooth others coarse or textured.
  12. @krucymucy - Looks good. Even though I really like the silver on the GT, I am all for making the bike unique and just a bit different than everyone else's. 👍
  13. Are you sure its 5mm? I use the Xena X1 and it has a 6mm pin, it fits the holes in both in front and rear disc. Xena X1 Disc-Lock | MotoSport X1 disc-locks for motorcycles, scooters, quads and ATVs. A stronger, more...
  14. Yes, one side has slightly different dimensions. If the price is fair, it sounds like a good DIY project, I'm sure you wouldn't need too much modification, if at all.
  15. I have never heard of a chain being toast in under 5k miles and have never lost or ruined any O-Rings on my street or dirt bikes. How do you maintain the chain? because like most on here have posted, 'average' life from a chain, even the oem chain is around 17k-18k miles.
  16. I love riding that whole area, Highways 20, 22 and 126 going to Sisters, including McKenzie Pass are all amazing.👍
  17. Congrats on the new bike. LOTS of useful info on this site, the search feature will net you more info than you can read in a week. Don't wait until winter to get a radiator guard, do that first thing.
  18. Yes, right after purchasing the bike I removed all of the safety stickers using a heat gun and a flat plastic scraper to lift the edge of the sticker, the edge is similar to a credit card. The stickers came right off with most of the adhesive.
  19. My buddy, who lives in Bend, has a custom seat from Mr Ed's Moto on his FJ. Its a very comfortable, quality made seat. Nothing beats a custom seat made just for you.👍
  20. Since it has a matte finish, you wont want to use a 'polish' since that will defeat the purpose, you just want to clean it. Looking on Google there are many dozens of sprays or cleaners for matte or satin finishes.
  21. On the original FJ09, our owners manual stated 5-15mm slack😲 obviously WAAAY too tight. Since 2015 it has been widely accepted that 30-35mm is a much safer amount of slack. The newer Tracer has a slightly longer swingarm but I'm not certain that the slack should be that much different, 65-75mm seems like alot. Concerning a torque wrench, do what you feel comfortable with but I never use a torque wrench on the axle nut. If you read through the service manual, there is a torque value for every fastener on the bike -In my opinion- that's overkill.
  22. Is that just glue residue or are those scratches? If it is just glue, then try Goo Gone or other adhesive remover. Don't forget to remove that safety warning sticker as well.
  23. Do it in the winter time when the bike is in hibernation, that way you can take your time and not miss any riding.
  24. It will get damaged every time you swap the tires and get dinged up by normal use and could get ugly looking if you have parts of it chipped up and missing. Im not sure how well plasti-dip holds up to washing but my rims get very dirty and if the plasti-dip has a coarse surface it could hold all of that dirt.
