suncoaster
The windscreen bracket movement was bugging me, so I put a bicycle quick release axle bolt in the windscreen mount, which completely stabilizes it. The QR bolt was around $9 for two. I also have four short ones for bolting things to the rear rack without tools. Drilled a 5mm hole in each side of the mount, and the axle bolt goes right through. Shown with the screen at highest setting. Left side, Right side.[span] [/span][span] [/span][span] [/span][span] [/span][span] [/span][span] [/span] Just for clarity, this is in addition to the factory knobs, not a replacement. You have to drill holes for this, the pictures show the high position. The screen is now rock solid. To use this instead of the knobs, the factory mount has nuts welded to it on the inside which may have to be drilled, if they are 5mm or less. thetruck454
Added a ram mount for my phone so I can use it as a GPS for this season's adventures. I also got a charger for my phone that should keep it powered for the day. I'll play around with where I mount it, but for now this seamed to work. I'd love to figure out a way to mount it just above the gauge cluster behind the windshield. That may be a little project or a later time. wordsmith
Having a few square inches of left-over [em]faux[/em] carbon-look vinyl sheet I cut out two pieces – one for each side of the tank – where my riding pants might rub and in time abrade the paint. Not my neatest or most precise job, but it looks neat enough, I think, and will be worthwhile. http://i.imgur.com/tGiwcrM.jpg Riding a fully-farkled 2019 MT-09 Tracer 900 GT from my bayside home in South East Queensland, Australia. buz11
More orange for my bike! Neon orange wheel graphics along with reflective orange staggered rim tape to light up at night. timg
I installed 2 Stebel HF-80 horns - http://i.imgur.com/npuL7Vx.jpg How did you get these mounted in there? I have one low tone horn installed (same orientation as yours) and decided to get is some high tone company. I have some ideas but would rather not reinvent the wheel if possible.. Thanks! First I removed the wire holder clip thingy that holds the stock horn wire between the connector and the horn, leaving a smallish tab with a hole in it at the center below the bottom triple tree. I fabbed a 2 piece bracket to hang the 2 horns from this tab, using some flat steel stock I got at Home Depot for the 1st piece. The 1st piece is basically a modified 90 degree piece coming forward and downward from the tab - http://i.imgur.com/o6wcH9S.jpg That bolts to a slightly double bent flat piece that I had from a former installation, and it holds the horns - http://i.imgur.com/OcKz1Jt.jpg It involved a bit of assemble/fit up to check for fit/disassemble and adjust etc activity, but I really enjoy that kind of stuff and have learned to have patience over the years. I then tucked the relay/connector into the convenient recess in the bottom of the triple tree - http://i.imgur.com/AcGusaT.jpg I checked it for tightness while taking these pictures just now, and everything is fine - I believe in the liberal use of lock washers and the old German torque spec of gudntite. The sound definitely gets the attention of talkers, texters and wanderers. We also have pedestrians around little Saigon who will cross anywhere and everywhere at anytime, they tell me it's part of their culture - so the horns are extra handy sometimes. If I can help any more, let me know.

wordsmith
Working on the bike installing new LED turn signals with the rear light/ number plate assembly off, and thought I may as well do a job I’d been considering for a while, namely tidying-up that weird overhanging rear structure. I didn’t want to go all the way as suggested here by some, notably Ulewz in his helpful and detailed Thread dated January 17th 2015 [em](FJ-09 Tech Tips/ How to’s). [/em] This pretty neat approach entirely removes the protruding strut and relocates the light/plate assembly forwards and tucks it up under the tail, but I wanted to retain full visibility of the turn signals when the hard panniers are mounted, so I went rather less than half-way. Simply, I took off the long OE bracket that runs horizontally and carries the reflectors on each side, and also supports the number plate. It was then cut down at each end so that it now finishes in-line with the outer edges of the number plate: the reflectors are discarded. Happily, I found a couple of small neat metal strips (actually unused from a set of Skene rear flashing hi-viz LEDs). Even more happily one end had a long slot in it, making vertical adjustment of the number plate dead easy. Each strip was bolted vertically to one outer end of the cut-down OE bracket and the number plate was screwed to them, which lifted it 4cm/ 1½” higher than originally, right up to and under the little plate-illuminating light housing. This has now tidied-up the rear, without too much work, surgery, or expense, and I think it look quite neat – more so than the OE complex. [strong]In the pix below[/strong] also note the new LED turn signals, replacing the original slim-line after-market ones I fitted, which proved unsatisfactory.
